    Thanks JD.

Since you bumped this thread I decided to go back and read it all again as well. Those guitars were a lot of fun to build and I think I'm going to have to build some more some day. I've got 2 very young grandsons that will be playing age within a few years, so I better start thinking about it.

I've been researching small scale kid's guitar builds and this thread has been a great find. So why not bump it after a couple years rest? :p

Mr. Kingma, I don't think you mentioned anything about the hardware (if you did, I missed it). Are the bridge, pickups, tuners, etc. all regular tele size versions? And have you built the guitars for your grandsons yet? Thanks for a great source of inspiration and advice.

    Thanks Greg.

All the hardware is standard sized.

And no, I haven't started any for my grandsons yet. I'm gonna have to do that pretty soon though.

Hey guys did anyone ever get hold of the plans for these? I have a son here who would love a tele that matches his dads.

This PDF is the plan I used.

I can't remember who created it otherwise I would give them credit.

I think I gave you the paper copy of the plans at A and M a few years ago. If you look close under the Title you will find Tdowns listed as the author.

What string gauges are you using on the shorter scale length?...

I'm putting together a 3/4 kit tele and want to put the right gauge strings on it straight up..without having to remove them and go heavier to get the tension OK...

    thanks in advance..:)

I've used 11's for all the shorter scale guitars I've built.
