Apologies for hitting y'all with yet another build but the cooler weather in St. Louis means less painting and more assembly! :D This is my second attempt at a burst paint job (did a Strat earlier this year) and I really like how it turned out.

The body is a one-piece swamp ash T-style from Marc Rutters (bought a bunch of bodies from him this year!). After grain-filling, I tinted the body with amber shellac, added several coats of clear gloss lacquer, and then added the burst ring with Reranch two-color burst. It's hard to see in the pics, but there is plenty of edge grain still visible.

Fender bridge and aged pearloid guard, Glendale steel saddles...

Also, this is my first experience with Tonerider pickups (TRT1), and I have to say that I'm really very impressed. Great tone and clarity at both the neck and bridge positions!

Here's a shot of the back. The amber shellac gave me exactly the color I was shooting for.

And how about that flame maple neck?!

This was custom made for me earlier this year by our own "Joe Desperado". Gorgeous flame, and the vintage amber dye really made it pop!

As you can see, this is a maple cap neck, which is exactly what I had in mind for this guitar.

    Really love that flame!

    Thanks for lookin'!

Marc Rutters and Joe Desperado's work is beautiful, and the finish you applied and assembly make this a true stunner! Nice work!

    Best regards

Lovely. I'm wondering how you got such a uniform width on the black around the edges. Did you tape it off somehow? It's remarkably consistent. I've tried burst before and did a reasonably good job for a goober but always ended up with one area that was a little wider than the rest. Of course, taping would leave a distinct line so I know you didn't do that exactly but wonder what your process was. Is it all just freehand?

Awesome! I would personally go with a black though. The flame on that neck is sublime, in fact I am getting high and entering a supreme state of zen "oneness" just looking at it :D
