I'm too young to have done any of this madness, but I have been there later to gasp at the results.

Seen a mid-60s Strat stripped of all its hardware and pickups and then spray painted with a can of automobile paint, wince! 1950s TV Yellow Les Paul special with the pickup routes gouged out to fit Dizmario humbuckers, ouch! All kinds of other tragedies.

Countless scalloped fingerboards, routings for 9volt batteries, 80s vibrato systems, drill holes for weird tuners, amps with completely different circuits in their chassis to the ones they left the factor with. Neck breaks, oh the badly repaired neck breaks.

Got close to routing out my Les Paul Deluxe with mini humbuckers. Now I'm glad I didn't.
