A stroke of luck perhaps?

About a month ago I sold a great guitar. Once it was gone I realized I had made a mistake. It was gone. An American original 50s tele.

fast forward to today...I found the gentleman I sold it to, and he has agreed to sell it back to me at the same price I let it go. And he hasn’t even played it yet.

fortuitous? Luck? either way I’ll take it!

    You.
    Are.
    Fortunate!

Five years ago I bought a very nice Les Paul R8 second hand. It was not what the seller thought it was; it was a CS model with Murphy ageing, not advertised as such, in mint condition. I got a pretty good deal on it. Fast forward six months and the seller contacted me to see if I'd sell it back for more than I paid (I think he discovered his error).

Too late, I had already bonded with it.

My recent AV 52 purchase (well, six months ago now), the guy was telling me how good it was (and he was not wrong), but in the same breath he was already planning on getting another. I think he was severely cash strapped that month, for some reason. Anyway, not my problem.

He contacted me a month later, and asked if I was happy with it. Absolutely! I'd been playing it constantly. Darn. He was glad for me (nice guy), but he'd been hoping to buy it back, because he was in the market again.

I feel for someone who has to go through such gyrations because of a short term cash flow problem, but ... sorry, I bonded with it on day one.

Usually it's 'buyer beware', but seller's remorse can be a "natural compelling force" (to quote the Dyatlov Pass Incident investigators). Cue the woo-woo music, Gene!

    What a great story,
but next time put it in the closet,
while you have THAT temporary affair with another guitar.
Then she'll be waiting for you like a golden sage and friend.

    PS. WE NEED PICTURES!!!
    Please.

I wish I had that luck with my old AV56 Strat. I couldn't tell you where the guy lived, ad can't even remember the guy's name. Really pleased for you OP.

There is a reason I have never sold a guitar. Given away a couple, no regrets, and have destroyed a couple over the decades.

    Darn it!

I'm having a hard enough time, trying to convince myself to sell one.

As they say, you can only play one at a time. But also, can you play 20 in a day? Haven't lately. 35 in a week? I don't think so.

I easily part ways with guitars, no regrets ever. The only things I closely guard are Morel mushrooms and Huckleberries HANDS OFF!!

You never said.....why did you sell it in the first place?
I can understand if financial circumstances were such that you needed the money.....no shame in that.
But otherwise, "something" drove you to get rid of it.
PLEASE.....report back in 6 months to a year.....and let us know how the two of you are doing....:)

And now, as fate would have it, our state is on in home lockdown and I cannot get the tele. :(

the reason I sold it is because I wanted a silver sky in midnight rose. I sold three guitars to get it. A friend got one before mine was ready and when I played it it ended up being very mediocre. It was too late. :(

I ended my pre order and went shipping. Found a gibson les paul and went with it
