Well, the artist got our attention.... so by the true measure, they have done their job admirably.

i quite like it... nicely lit.

This goes back to an argument I got into here a month or two back. Somebody argued that a canvas painted plain black was “art”. I said it wasn’t. Well, here is the “sculpture version of a canvas painted black”. Neither are art, but you can never underestimate the stupidity of stupid people.

If evoking an emotional response is all it takes to be “art,” then if I say, “F*UCK YOU” is that art?

Well now it's not, because you divulged you were doing it only to elicit an emotional response, and therefore, it evokes zero emotion in me.

F,C,U,K made it a brand... so its certainly design worthy. Been done to death as ‘art’.

Well, I took the liberty of arranging this for you. (I focused on guitar and bass, figuring the drummer can't read sheet music.) Of course, I expect some attribution when you perform it. :)

There’s a 1960s Tony Hancock movie called The Rebel which has a little fun with the art world.

    Nice try, Big Brother.
I'd just pile laundry on it. I need somewhere to go with it - the exercise bike and weight bench are totally covered.

'I spent most of my dough on booze, broads and boats and the rest I wasted.“ — Elmore Leonard

It is just the artists depicting mimesis. I've wasted a lot of time and dough on nothing too.

It's a solid piece at any tempo. I'd say, just read the crowd.

I debated whether to include stuff like that, too. Music and dance are still "something" that you can experience, though. I guess what I'd getting at is that the thought and intention of the act is a big part of the whole thing. You could look at "Erased De Kooning Drawing" and see a blank piece of paper, but the fact that the artist deliberately commissioned a pencil drawing, only to erase it and frame it makes it a unique statement. Lots of people don't get "4:33" either, but the point is to make you back up and become more aware of the context. I think this stuff is fun. :)

Sure, but it's hardly original. ;)

Nothing is not very original either.

But selling nothing for $18000 is; that's the difference. Think of something that hasn't been done before, and you too can score the big bucks. :D

Exactly, don't I wish I'd gotten in on that silliness a few years ago!
