First and foremost, let me get this out of the way first, I had such a crush on Valerie Landsburg, she was just the perfect Girl Next door.

    But anyway.

Metal Necked Kramers, T-series Peaveys, Rickenbackers, Smith-era Fenders, heck, the series was sponsored by Yamaha and those Super combinator guitars and BB basses are super cool too. If only I could go back in time and walk into that store.

The store is amazing! That chorus, somewhat less so.

awesome. I enjoyed that, laughed out loud with the roller skater.

If this were redone today, she'd be half naked and the chorus would be about why she might cheat.

Reminds me a bit of how Rhythm City in Atlanta looked back in the day.

This looks exactly the way my local store looked in the 80's! Flashback.

But that music was cringe worthy...

Nothing wrong with the song, it's certainly not as cringe worthy as what's in the hit parade these days.

No stomp box display yet. Only sold 1 type of guitar cord.

I nominate that for the worst bass sync performance in the history of bass sync performances (Kind of like lip syncing, but lower).

That's mostly a generational thing. Compare "Hi-Fidelity" to its actual competition in the hit parade of 1982, and it falls apart as the characterless synth hack job that it is. I mean, they chose THIS song as a single? No wonder the TV series had no US hits.

The video certainly evokes the era nicely, though. The Yamaha basses are cool, but I give a thumbs down to any Fame content without Lori Singer and her cello.

When I think of all the time I've spent learning and arranging and rehearsing, when all that has to happen is somebody starts something, then everybody jumps in, everyone knowing the lyrics, the changes, even dance steps, in a spontaneous explosion. I feel so dumb.

This may be the worst song I've ever heard.

I kept waiting for that bass kid to take someone’s head off.

Check out that II-series Yamaha combo amp! My local music store in those days was pretty much all Crate GC and Ampeg SS combos...Fender and Series 10 guitars. Small town, not far from St. Louis and SLM, I guess...

Yes, I'll give you that, there's NO WAY this is an accurate depiction of a spontaneous jam. This was rehearsed to the max.

My favorite part of the song is that the kid on the keyboard looks like a young Joe Satriani!

I see a lot of stuff that would be listed as “vintage/rare!” on craigslist today.
