This is an environment with multiple locations, lots of staff, and nothing ever totally stops. No one spends all day watching it, but our network platform, software platforms plus things for security and compliance mean most all you do is logged. There are places where cameras watch too. With all that, anyone choosing to lie needs to be really careful or good at it.

I'm glad I got out of that environment when I did. You all are brave souls to survive the new business IT world.

I wouldn't fit in a place like that . Not even close and no desire to try . You may have this den of thieves .

I work in a customer service call center for a very large company. Every word is recorded and archived forever. The security folks could find this post if I mentioned the name.

I was only involved in a national company for about a year and a half. When I left it, I decided to never try to rise above the local level of employment ever again. I knew I would be limiting my choices, and especially remuneration possibilities but I'd had enough of what that life brought, and more importantly what it brought out in me.

Ahhh, sweet sweet retirement. I don’t have to play anymore. You can bet on red or black and it will come up chartreuse.

Red is popular in these parts but black and chartreuse are best. At least for musky fly fishing.

Lucky for me all my tools were in my truck. No cardboard boxes here. I owned all the tools I used.
Downsized went home told my wife. She said good now you are retired.

Definitely don't admit in an email that you played with the numbers to make sure you get the bonus.

An old manager of mine did that.

I hate to be the one sticking up for The Man, but most employers don't have the time, resources or interest in micro managing what all of their employees are doing at work. Here's what they're most concerned about in no particular order -- IT theft; egregious internet abuse (i.e. porn at work); potential security breaches, and general misconduct like embezzlement and the like. No reasonable employee should be bothered by any of this -- it's a job, not your personal play time.

Early in my time at this employer (about 4-5 years ago) I decided to check my lotto numbers on my lunch break. I got a pop-up saying I was blocked from the site because gambling. OK, fair enough. I don't do anything but work related stuff on the laptop now. Funny though, my boss has a weekly meeting he hosts on Zoom, and hes sharing his browser with 4 fantasy football links in his Chrome toolbar.... Go figure

Years ago I used to be responsible for reviewing internet usage at a large company.

It was always amusing to have someone claim that the logs showing that they were browsing porn all day were somehow wrong.

I never get requests to make an exception for gambling like I do for popular sports topics like that.

There have been a few times in my career when things people did were between embarrassing and all the way up to outrageous. When I was an ISP sysop, and at one job, I had to respond to orders from law enforcement. There have been holds and discovery incidents when employers or staff were in lawsuits.

Never worked for a company. Don't have any social media accounts, unless guitar forums, email and text count. I've never worried about it but still, maybe I am at risk?
