Dear Santa,

I don't have much money to buy a lot. All of my money has been spent on buying other people's gifts - family and friends. So I'd like to ask you for a Telecaster for Christmas.

Thank you,
Just me

P.S
If any members see this, and you received a guitar for Christmas or bought one for yourself, please share your story and pics. Just because I can't get one, doesn't mean I won't celebrate with you! :)

In 2007 o Christmas Eve, my lovely wife gave me a little box with a promise to take
me out to buy this on the day after Christmas:

Gibson ES-335 DOT

Last year we were on vacation and came across this little jewel so she got it for me for Christmas:

I am tremendously blessed, and the guitars are nice, too.

I was given something far greater, for 25 years I shared Christmas with the most wonderful person I have ever known(without exception), my wonderful wife.
She made sure I received several guitars for Christmas - but that was of little significance to her love and care she constantly poured out on me and all that she came into contact with.

I miss her dearly.

I am forever in debt to her for the direction she steered my life by the example she lived daily.

Today would have been our 27th anniversary.

This she gave me on our 25th anniversary.

As nice as it is, it's insignificant to the family she left behind that continues to take care of me. They like her are a gift for all eternity.

So Bob - ever thought about cloning your wife? :)

Dear Just Me:

Christmas is supposed to be about giving gifts to those you love.
Popular culture and that Whitney Houston song encourage us to love ourselves.
But for a couple months each year, it's healthy to think of others first.
Mrs. Clause and the elves and I spend the entire year up her in this frozen rectum of a workshop making stuff for people we don't know to rip open and toss aside on Christmas morning.
And so you might want to hold onto some of the moola you get from doting relatives and check out the after-Christmas sales and save yourself a bundle on whatever you think you want.
Gotta go. Elves are threatening to strike again and reindeer have the trots.

Sincerely (and I really mean that),

Santa🎅

Er, so what does it look like now?
It's on the bench waiting for some finish help and a new bridge pickup.

My first guitar was a Christmas gift from my folks in 1972. I was 11.

My buddy got a Strat copy and I got one just like the pic below, plus I got an amp.

47 years later, GAS kicked in and I now have just about every guitar on my bucket list.

As much as I didn't bond with my first guitar, I'd LOVE to have one now to see how it would play.

I got a red (Sear's??) acoustic way back in maybe 75 or 76. Myself and my older sister did what we could and that was about that. Couple years later a 'two for one' deal from a local brick and mortar offered lessons, and me with the red one and my sister with a rental tried reeeealy hard to learn fingerstyle from this hippy chic. A plectrum would have been MUCH easier to learn on. Sigh.
But the seed was there with that christmas guitar! Took many more years but I think I can play now, lol.

Dear Santa,

I'm begging you to force someone to give me a new or used guitar tonight. It could be someone here in the forum or that I know personally. PLEASE Santa, please.

Thank you,
A good man

In 1999 I got a Squier Affinity Strat for Christmas. I still have it and play it occasionally. It's actually a pretty good guitar, despite being so cheap that the letters "ocaster" do not appear anywhere on the headstock.

I met my best friend of 42 years in college. Mayhem and debauchery followed. I did his sound in bar gigs. We went on the road and shot produced video, music videos and caused trouble for many years. He was best man at my wedding.
He is now a college professor. He has 3 nice guitars the best being a 1962 Gibson 125.
His hands are "going bad"
I built and finished this for him as a Christmas gift.
Warmoth conversion neck SS frets strung with 8s. Warmoth chambered body. Bootstrap Extra Crispys.
This will be light, 6.5 lbs. and easy to fret.
Amazing friend. 20221224_094937.jpg

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to alla ya!

Mom and Dad gave me my Martin Shenandoah 12-string 30 Christmases ago this year. It's been with me ever since, through thick and thin, and I've made a thousand awesome memories playing it. It lives in my living room with "pride of place" except when it has to scootch over for the Christmas tree.

I got a guitar as a gift this Christmas from my SIL. It had been sitting in a closet for about 10 years.

It’s a ‘96 SG Special w/humbuckers, but only in fair condition with a few chips, belt buckle scratches, random scrapes - definitely player grade. It actually was nearly in tune when I pulled it out of the case. Cleaned it, polished the frets (which are borderline), put new strings on, and checked the intonation and action (not far off). The nut is chipped on the bass side which involved the low E slot; the prior owner had used what looks like a box knife to score a shallow slot just to the side. Actually, sounds pretty great.
