Best wishes for that young man. As another post stated, your son should not feel guilty. Accidents happen. It sounds like he is great hands.

The absolute best medication has always been youth. We can bounce back and heal rapidly from just about anything when we are young...not so much later on. Later on, you adopt the philosophy of "hurts but works" to get through the day.

He will be good, as Evil Knievel used to say "Bones heal, chicks dig scars".

Certainly glad to hear of the young man's progress.
Continued thoughts and prayers for a successful recovery.

My son and his music jamming and sports pals went for a bike ride yesterday afternoon and one had a crash that is multiple breaks in his spine. We don't know what the outcome will be yet. They are all obviously pretty upset, and especially my son who feels guilty because it was his idea to get out for a bike ride.

These fantastic young guys do not fit a lot of stereotypes. They are not partiers, have been fantastic students, hard workers at their jobs, and at age 19 still care for an autistic kid they met in middle school. I hope ___ has a full recovery and especially before their rigorous engineering curriculum resumes at end of summer.
Gosh, man, as a dad I worry so much about my 17 year-old son getting hurt doing kid stuff. He and his friends are much like you describe. My son works four, sometimes five, nights a week and is of course a high school student too. Awesome kid. When I think of what I was doing at his age, he’s such an angel. I mean—really—I had a car bong when I was his age. As in, a bong solely dedicated for use in my little Toyota Celica, even while driving. Idiot. A wonder I survived. It was like car furniture, for god’s sake. My son I don’t think has even ever had a beer. Anyway, I am so sorry to hear about that tragic accident. Stuff like that can happen so quickly. I really do hope everything turns out okay. My thoughts are with you, your loved ones, and that poor young man.

I sincerely hope the young man makes a complete recovery. It is doubly disturbing when you see young people who are trying their best to do the right thing have something bad happen to them. Again, best wishes for all concerned.
