Very simple for my wife and I. When we first got married (a long time ago) we decided not to buy gifts for each other for any special days or holidays. We figured it was better to just get what we want or need at the time rather than wait for some certain day to have it.
We do, of course, buy gifts for our children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren for birthdays, Christmas, etc. but not for each other.
A few advantages to that are that we get what we really want or need, don’t have to be without it and wait for some special day to have it, plus it frees up money for gifts for our family at those times.
