A fun pickup project

I recently had an old Japanese made hollow-body here in the shop and the original pickups were destroyed. The originals were wider and longer than a traditional single coil so I couldn't just swap in a new set, so I gutted the originals and retro-fitted some cool rails inside the chrome housings. I used the chrome housing and steel bottoms of the original pickups and cut the threaded tabs off the cool rails and they fit right inside surprisingly....

They're nice and mellow sounding. I had wondered if the chrome casings would have an effect but to my ears I don't hear any difference between these and other cool rails I've installed.

From all the H and toaster covers I've installed, I've never noticed a difference like I did when I removed a traditional PAF chrome cover recently. That's a really well done restomod!
