My thought as well - maybe the 2 pickup Strat-shaped Bullet instead of the Tele-shaped model? That would have been more like 1982 though.

I wrote somewhere on the forum, that Fender are releasing new Lead guitars at this winter's NAMM. Saw that nugget of info on OSG forums.

Yes they are; should be officially out tomorrow morning (USA Pacific time) around the time the NAMM show opens.

They are MIM, part of the Player series, and they are doing a Lead II and a Lead III. I haven't seen any details on the Lead II, but the Lead III is going to have standard humbuckers - the same as the bridge pickup of the Player HSS Tele - so I would assume the Lead II will have Player Strat single coils. It also means a modernized neck like a Player Strat (modern C shape, 1.65" nut width, 9.5" radius, and medium jumbo frets), but they are going to use the the reissue 70s-style "F" tuners.

The necks are great on those old Bullet guitars, I had one that I got cheap and miss having it just for the neck.
