    Alright enough with the hype
This build won't be a dead nuts accurate build but in the flavor of this iconic guitar.

Started off by trying to make a neck template for that coke bottle style headstock and 25 inch scale neck.

    Took a couple of tries

Then I cut me a walnut fretboard

Interested to see how this turns out.

    I like your inspiration pics.

I've got a danelectro style lipstick pickup in the bridge position on my DIY thinline and I really like it.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing it. Looks like a nice piece of curly walnut for the FB. I've never tried walnut for the FB, but I do love walnut.

Nice man. I've had the long horn bass plans saved on my computer for awhile myself. Are you doing the masonite too?

Well, masonite is kind of cheesy, but

Diamond plate adds a nice industrial touch to this pic, don’t ya think.

I really like it. It is very low output. It makes wonderful clean tones either by itself or in combination with a vintage tele neck pickup. There's something "blended" about the sound - you know how when people are harmonizing in a church, and you'd swear there were extra notes nobody was singing, just coming out of the corners? It's a little bit like that.
I hardly ever play really high gain sounds. If I try that with this guitar, it gets muddy. But then again I'm not well practiced at dialing in those tones so it could be user error.

If you're doing this one with all lipstick pickups, I'd suggest a wiring setup that gives you an option for two pickups in series. On mine, that position gives a more conventional humbucker-like sound that is a major contrast from the straight lipstick tone.

I had this one and sold it. Wish I didn't.

Still have this one. Fun guitars. These are the '98 re-issues that had the good pickups.
