That seems a little much. I bought one of their records once trying to be cool I guess. It didn’t capture my imagination.

Is this a new thing, tributes to marginally popular hipster bands?

I think they’re still active. Which makes it even weirder.

I forgot about Dada. To think someone was inspired to start a Dada tribute band stretches far beyond the limits of my comprehension.

I had to go refresh my memory....didn't work, absolutely no memory and I was in radio back in the early 90s.
Played about 15 seconds of Dizz Knee Land and thought...the Outfield try light-alt rock.

Want to try tribute band of a forgotten 90s band? Try Jellyfish, they had great material.

You should check out the calendar at the Encore Collective in Columbia. A whole lot of it is trib bands. Once in a while there's a really great artist on tap, but that's rare.

And 10 minutes down the street is Merriweather Post, where there are some really great shows scheduled over the next few months.

I used to work across the street from Merriweather. I got kicked out Skynyrd's sound check!

Dada was a great, underrated, under-appreciated band. I can understand why people who only know them from Dizz Knee Land aren't impressed, but their albums were consistently good, and the musicianship is top notch.

That said, I think the band you're referencing is 7horse, which features two of the original members of Dada, Joie Calio (bass/vocals) and Phil Leavitt (drummer). Michael Gurley (original guitarist, co lead vocalist) has his own thing going. Dada was originally a power trio, but it looks like this version is a quartet.

Looks like Northern California is not on the tour. Bummer.

Not to mention that Diz Knee Land has a killer guitar solo at the end. He totally goes off on that one. Great strat tone too.

And for the encore they could get all the acts on stage together to perform a cover of The Police "Da Doo Doo Doo Da Da Da Da"...
At that point, you'd have to warn concert goers who have a speech impediment..."taking about this show could undo years of therapy."
