I remember a rig rundown with Sonny Landreth where he talked about using a Dyna Comp after his drive pedals to retain volume when switching to a clean tone. I've never tried that but it sounds good in theory.

I used to have a Classic Distortion that I got used for $20 somewhere. I used it a few years ago as trade-in bait at GC to get 20 percent off my purchase. It was a nice pedal, but I already had a Rat on my board and needed a lower gain, transparent OD.

I currently have an Mxr Timmy and a mini cry baby on my gig board. I also have a Dunlop Echoplex on my home board. They are a few of my favorite pedals. For gigs, I prefer the flexibility of my Deluxe Memory Man TT, but if I ever needed to keep it really simple and light, I could easily and happily gig with just the Timmy and the Echoplex.

Carbon Copy, Dyna Comp and Classic 108 Fuzz mini. I love them all! The Fuzz is not on my grab and go pedalboard, but I'll put it in front of the board, if I need it. Carbon Copy and DynaComp...I do not see them leaving my board, ever!

OK, I've completed my set. Blue (Teal), Red, Orange, Yellow Dunlop/MXR pedals. View attachment 1094173

I almost added a green GT-OD but have just about decided to go off the Dunlop reservation and get an actual Tube Screamer (or at least a TS9) to cover that color.

I can't say enough good things about the AnalogMan-modded Maxon OD-9. I bought one and I no longer worry about a Tube Screamer. I'm sure I'll buy ANOTHER Tube Screamer, but I've got the base one covered.

Back in 1975 Betty had both the Littlewoods and Kays catalogues. One of them had the MXR Distortion+ and Dunlop Crybaby. The D+ was £45 and the Crybaby might have been £30. At the time my student accommodation rent was £12 a week inclusive of meals and laundry. The Crybaby stopped working maybe 20 years ago, I should investigate fixing it, though I never mastered it's use. The D+ gets occasional use, though the lack of a 9v power input restricts things. I probably should sell it and buy a new one.

Somebody might pay you as much for your "classic" Dist+ as it'll cost for a new one with a 9V outlet. Crumbling foam 'n all!

There's one on eBay at £1,272. They won't get anywhere near that but plenty seem to go in the £200-£400 range.
