In the spirit of the Pedal Effects Owners Clubs sub-forum, I was surprised not to see a virtual club for owners of classic MXR pedals or the newer pedals and reissues by MXR/Dunlop. Sturdy little boxes of various colors with MXR on them are a staple of pedalboards and have been for a long time.

I'm going to stretch that definition slightly and include the Fuzz Face family. That's a Jim Dunlop product line whose roots aren't the same as MXR/Dunlop but for me that seem kind of like step-cousins or something.

So whaddya got? I'm a newcomer with, so far, just a Hendrix Fuzz Face Mini into a Distortion+ in my pedal chain. I do also own an MXR Timmy but I don't use it since getting the D+ which I like better. I'll be shortly adding a Script Logo Phase 90 with LED (CSP101SL).

I realized today I have a pedal chain that's split into two halves. Kind of like one of albums that's half acoustic and half electric guitar music. The front end of the chain is (will be) Fuzz Face into Phase 90 into Distortion+. The back half is all digital stuff with a DD-500 delay, Source Audio Vertigo tremolo then a Line6 DL4 delay (what can I say, I like delays).

So let's celebrate the old-school analog side of things. Although the odd MXR digital pedal here or there is cool, too.

I bought the MXR Classic Overdrive when GC had them on sale for $40 a few months ago. Great pedal. It is a made-for-GC version of the GT-OD. It also has the internal switch that changes it to the Zac Wilde OD. I still need to order a switch so I can modify it so it can be changed from the outside.

I bought and sold ( GC, and on CL). both green and off-white versions of the Classic Overdrive 3 times. Miss it!

BUT, this Classic Distortion ( which hit GC around the same time- I modded mine>brighter), more of an OD pedal has been (often) an always ON pedal for me into my clean combo amps.
Perfect for the old R&R/blues/ funk stuff I play, love it!
Of these 2 'made for GC' MXR pedals, this is the one I bonded with. Great breakup and sizzle

I have the MXR M300 Reverb pedal. It’s packed with excellent effects from subtle to dripping wet. It sounds very organic to me and it’s super easy to use with a simple three knob layout.

I gave your post a LIKE but now I'm going to try and forget I ever saw it.

Turns out I don't actually own a reverb pedal and the thought of an MXR one to go with my other recent MXR pedal purchases is scarily appealing😍

I'm a big MXR fan! The Dyna Comp Deluxe is always on for me (I play clean and quiet and it really adds some nice juice to my sound). I also own a Phase 90, 95 and 100, but they're not always hooked up.

Their Analog Chorus is my favorite chorus pedal, very versatile... I love how mild it can get. I keep it low and slow, almost to where you can't tell it's on till you turn it off.

Carbon Copy Deluxe is my only delay pedal. I've been tempted by others, but the CC does it all and sounds great for my style of playing. I don't use the bells and whistles much (mod, tap tempo etc), but the bright switch is a great addition.

OK, now that's what I'm talking about...

Lot of great sounds in there.

You can't see it out of picture at the top but there's a tuner pedal acting as a buffer after the Fuzz Face. Without it, the Distortion+ tends to do a bit of passive tone suck when bypassed.

I dig my Micro Amp. It may or may not be replaced by my Keeley Compressor (depending on how useful I decide a compressor is for me; it can also reused just as a boost), but the Micro Amp does its job just fine.

I've had the MXR Prime Distortion pedal for awhile now. It does a great job at what I want it for--to heat up single coil pickups. I can dial in Guns-n-Roses if I want, and it sounds great.

I'm down to three MXR/Dunlop pedals now, having sold MXR Timmy on the Emporium.

Timmy was my intro pedal for learning about boost/distortion/drive, being "transparent" and with several options for types of clipping and so forth. But once I went down the Fuzz Face and Distortion+ road Timmy became redundant. I don't really need a clean boost or nearly clean drive in addition to the harder types of dirt.

And I'm still NOT getting an M300 reverb, by the way. Definitely. Don't need it, not getting it. At least not today...

My ONLY beef with MXR pedals is the stupid placement of the power jack beside the input.
I'm with you there. Guess it must make things easier circuit board layout-wise or something but from a user perspective, just dumb.

Fortunately my patch cables don't have the really big ends on the. But I can't use any right-angle power cords on the MXR pedals without leaving them sticking up awkwardly.

I have a Micro Chorus pedal coming in the mail. Anyone ever use one? I had the Micro Flanger and thought it was a great pedal, but I preferred the EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress XO.
