No, momma didn't go on strike. An event beyond my control caused me to lose some weight a while back, and I don't want it back. Went out to a big dinner the other night, and then had a big breakfast the following day, and three pounds invaded my body as a result. So, for the last few mornings, I've been consuming some sardines I bought a while back for breakfast. I've read that they clean sardines before canning them, but I'm not sure I believe that. Some pretty interesting stuff comes out of those things when you break 'em open to put 'em on a cracker. I figure the Louisiana hot sauce will kill any worms or bugs that they might have in 'em. I have to admit, not since my trail hound hunting days have I subjected myself to such fare.

I know what you mean @Toto'sDad. My dad used to call them s*** with bones in, I tend to agree.

I love sardines, my wife makes me put the can in a bag, then carry it out to the outside trash can. I can't for the life of me understand why. Potted meat, and Spam, are right up there with sardines. Did you know there is no such fish as a sardine? It's just a type/size of minnow, could be any one of forty different species. I guess that's why I never get tired of them, different meal every time!

I'm pretty sure that your dad was right, but, what can I say, I like 'em.

My neighbor's cat who has crapped in my yard every day for thirteen years, is meowing at the door!

    I eat em as well.
Although I’d imagine you can’t be too hungry for anything after you have that candy dish full of meds as an appetizer!

Me too! I love sardines and anchovies. Looks like healthy brekkie to me! I like the sardines with jalapenos also. Good stuff.

I find the ones in tomato sauce somewhat rank, Wild Planet does them in water with salt (not salty water, mind you) and those are better.

Prefer herring or kippered snacks, for my $.

You don't get all the extras unless you buy your sardines at Wally World!

I agree Sardines good breakfast on a diet since I would rather starve than have those.

Canned fish is for cats. I've gotten really good in my old age at whining when it comes to "healthy" food. Giving up more than my fair share of Sugar was enough.

Mine do need to be deboned and preferably deskinned. The bones freak me out a little.
