I barely spend any time on guitar forums, other than this superb place. Such wonderful fellow forum members here. This place is "top of the mark". (You SF guys will get that.)

 

Wait, what? Are you saying this place is a guitar forum? I was wondering why there were so few euphonium builds going on...

 

I don't remember which film it is, but Humphrey Bogart goes to buy some cigarettes in the Fairmont, and he's outraged that they are a quarter. I remember that they were a dollar there in the late 60s when they were about 45 cents everywhere else.

 

Interesting.

"Top of the Mark" was the top floor lounge at the Mark Hopkins Hotel. I'm guessing it's still there. A classy bit of old San Francisco. (I grew up there.). Could be homeless encampments all over the sidewalk in front of the Mark these days. Disgusting what the "city fathers" have done to that once-charmed city.

 

I know what the Mark Hopkins is, which is why I mentioned the Fairmont, which is right across the street, on the opposite corner. They are the 2 most historic hotels in SF, with the St. Francis coming in 3rd. It's my hometown too.

 

Was kinda wondering what's up with TGP myself.
