Yes I'm new-ish around here and feel very comfortable.. The couches are nice and plush..they don't scratch the guitars! I like this place.

I TOTALLY love @Mellencaster contributions and quickly hopped aboard the posted files he put up. Totally top notch recording and the writing and compostion is a high bar too.

Therefore, I felt bold enough to submit tracks too, as I have seen others feeling compelled also...and felt this group was kind enough to allow such.
I feel that I can blast out tracks and try to create something that I hope will allow the noodlers to really show their stuff, yet sometimes also be a bit out of their wheelhouse and maybe a "challenge"?? I record a lot and spend many hours just recording...that's how I practice nowadays. I can easily do a couple of the backing tracks in a day...but won't just totally over run the forums!

That all said, I quickly realized that with so many submissions, and a healthy return of audio replies, it has become hard to keep up with constructive and complimentary comments on all the reply tracks. Some are just incredibly...waaaay beyond what I could have imagined. That's the beauty of this group...a HUGE supply of seasoned, well versed musicians with "A level" caliber chops. My *desire* was to comment on each and every one...which I notice some kindly do...but I'm finding I would spend more time typing, rather than making music. Obviously, one is preferable over the other. But I DO listen to every one..>TO THE END<...and attempt to put a "reaction" emoji on them, to show I've been around. As I am listening, I will hope to say at least "sumpin", while I am listening. ...cause my typing hands are typically free then....but I can tell that will be a lob-sided affair compared to a guitar in my lap.

HUGE THANKS to you all. I really mean that. This is perfect therapy for me and a favorite activity. (no...I don't really need therapy imo...but maybe my wife thinks so with a room full of guitars, computers and lava lamps!)

I hope it is OK to blast out tracks, but I certainly don't want to flood the banks...and it will come in spurts, I know. But when I don't feel like making music, I'll sit and type....but I can tell that will be a lob-sided affair compared to a guitar in my lap.

It's a lot to expect someone to provide/create backers for the group and then expect them to provide thoughtful comments. My last stint of providing BTs (a year of doing so) I indicated to the group that I would not be commenting on the submissions for this very reason - it's a lot of effort. What I did/do is hit 'Like" not necessarily because I like a track(which I probably do) but to indicate that I listened to it - common courtesy. I like to 'do onto others as I'd want them to do onto me', but in some cases, I do onto others as they've done onto me.

As far as your output, I'd say blast away. No one is forced to participate and it's a great jesture on your part to provide BTs. Thank you sir, may I have another? - Alan

Well, for my small contribution I hugely say thank you.

If you're into making backing tracks for guitarists I have some interesting things I've played with.

Get a nice backer that you or someone created, and record yourself playing another 2nd rhythm part over it.
Erase the original track and all you're left with is your comping (rhythm) playing.

Then post.

After all that, jump in the pool, be one of the guys, and post your own solos.

Another idea.

I didn't mention anything about creating the rest of the band, bass and drums, maybe a rhythm player, keys or guitar.

If you do all that you experience what it takes to be an essential part of a real band. It could actually change who you are as a more complete musician. I'm somewhere along on that journey, it can be like breaking down a brick wall with an olive fork. But remember Shawshank, a fork might just work.

All good.
There have been a lot of submissions lately but as Alan says, "one does not have to participate". I pick and choose depending on my time and my mood. I tend to favor the BTs that don't already have a ton of guitar on them. I'm not really into just 'soloing'. I love adding a rhythm track.

Then you’ve got old goofballs like me out here-still trying to find his old android so he can play in the reindeer games!

Just this week I became reunited with my daughter stolen away as an infant.

Amazingly it’s been easier for me to focus on melodies, my back doesn’t hurt as much, I think I’m standing up straighter, ha.

Between the beautiful long conversations we’re having (through messaging at this point-easing into it at her request-she’s quite bright and self-aware) I still grab my guitar, and play to these!

Beyond the therapeutic, I listened to a tune that I played to, right after it happened-it sounded like melodies from hundreds of different songs all strewn together!

I would love to be able to comment on all the great submissions but there would have to be two of me.

By the way have we been lied to all our lives? I’ve always heard that it was the great stars that were identifiable- you know the old ‘you can tell it’s Jimi Hendrix or BB King or whoever just by hearing a few notes’

I’m not saying anyone is better or worse, or as good as or whatever, I am saying it’s pretty easy to identify/distinguish-If we didn’t already have a ‘playing identity’ we sure seem to be getting one here!

My mind sometimes goes dyslexic, and phonetics come to play-I can mix up ASATKat w Alan L Cole, But only because of the A and C or K sounds…

Music is therapy and guitar is good touch!

Welcome, and love your BTs!!!
The key to a thriving forum is the member's support towards each other.
Thanks for the intro!!!
Music is definitely a healer and a very effective therapy.
Impressive pics of your studio.
For me, I simply love guitars!!!
Respectfully,
Rene

All I had to do was look at Olive’s fork, Popeye threatened me and Wimpy told me if I got it, could he borrow it, and if so, he’d gladly return it next Tuesday….Why I Oughta!

I used to comment on every track I participated in. A few people still do. If I post a backing I still comment on every submission.

oh gosh...your heart and mind must be on overdrive and full to the brim. Good luck with that. I think we're all puppies here though!
Thank you very much for that! Right after I posted it I thought, oh man what about any others here that may be going through that, Was it like eating an ice cream in front of someone without?

The remarkable thing is genetics, being apart for 35 years, Time zones, we still do things at the same time!

yeah it is... the clocks just spin too fast when you get absorbed into it. I easily can burn time... which isn't maybe so desirable at this point in life.
In my young life I had a great experience having my own apartment but basically spending all my time in a Studio off Beach Boulevard in Orange County California.

Because it was off of a heavy traveled Street, I seem to remember something about it being on sand?

Whatever it was, there was a space almost large enough to walk through between walls. Actually easily traversed in my youth, I’d get stuck now.

Often we would be in there and look at the ‘time’ and see 6 o’clock We didn’t know if it was a.m. or p.m.
we’d have to go outside and see which way the traffic was going, or try to see the sun.

Now it seems days pass by in the blink of an eye. Whether I’m busy or taking it easy…

Hey @mixmkr 2023, glad you are on board! I guess we are pushing the Twanger forum more this last months than ever. I'd also like here to thank everyone, producing tracks, contributing parts in so many amazing ways, and also sharing their songs. It is so delightful to hear what is cooking in your heads, how you guys perceive a tune. Awesome stuff! I always try not to listen to anyone's version before my own take, otherwise, it wouldn't be my own anymore :D
