Then again, in Europe? It looks clean for 20 years old. New ones what, $600?

Yep. It was only $300 or $350 brand new. But new ones are $700 these days. So if it’s nice and clean, $425 doesn’t seem out of line.

I am amazed every day that you guys think $425 is high for a MIM asking price

NOT that I disagree with you in principle, but in my neck of the woods I see them listed on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc, for $575-$675.... Maybe only $50 less than new, which, if you're patient, you can find sale prices on new for less than that.

Right now someone is selling a used Squier Infinity for $200, which is more than guitar center sale price.

I think $400 is the most I'd pay for this, especially without a case.

    Answered my own question!

There’s a guy on Strat-talk selling one just like that loaded with Seymour Duncan pick ups for 350.

New they were $300. Jumped to $330 in like 2002ish I think? Anyway, I'd pay $300-$350 for it. You don't see those every day, but they are pretty common all things considered. Great guitars though. If you really want a red one, maybe just under $400?

It looks clean and is a less common color so that adds some value as well. Around here, it would be $375...$425 if with hard case. That said, the listing price is often inflated some to off-set any haggling so the final price is likely around $390 which is about right.

Yep seller wont budge off 425, and without case. Probably going to pass. Thanks guys as always for the input.

Until the next time when I need to be talked in or out of a guitar purchase :D

    "listing price is often inflated"

This has NOT been my experience. Most listings I see state something like: "firm cash only price, this is my bottom price, no trades"

And in fact, I see the seller of this guitar just told the OP the same thing.

He can stay firm on the price all day long, and people can refuse to pay it all day long.

He was at 475, I "haggled" to 435.

There are many who are "inflated" and many that are "firm". I tend to "inflate" slightly. You gotta throw it against the wall and see what sticks right?

But I rarely make profit, Not really what I'm after personally.

Not arguing with the fact that people are stupid. Kind of like hoarding toilet paper.

    $475, $435?

I'm sorry I got confused somewhere. I thought the asking price was $425. He started at $475 WITHOUT a case on a mass produced average guitar?
