I have a Squier MIJ that the previous owner stripped the original black from and finished natural. Someone also routed the bridge hole for a humbucker. It has the original bridge plate now but the hole sticks beyond the edges. My plan is to fill the hole and reroute. The natural finish is fine but I figure I can't fill it without it looking ugly, or can I? I was thinking of doing something close to Daphne Blue but probably with rattle can auto paint then lightly relicing it. I'm generally not a fan of relicing but the rest of the guitar is nicely relic'd using the traditional method (being old!) and a spanking new body paint job might look odd. Any thoughts? - Can I fill and stain to match the existing finish? - If I'm doing to do a light relic should I still level out the body dings before painting? - Any other options?
