Saw a cool Ibanez acoustic guitar in a shop the other day: It's basically a normal 6-string acoustic, but with octave strings for the G and D strings, giving 8 strings in total (4 on either side of the headstock). It plays pretty much like a normal guitar, but with extra richness from the two octave strings, giving it a bit of a 12-string sound, but with easier tuning and playability. Also, it has the octave notes you need for a bunch of Byrds songs like Mr. Tambourine Man, or Turn Turn Turn I don't think I need this guitar since I already have nice 6 and 12-string acoustics, but I think the idea is really cool! I could see this being a great guitar for a singer/strummer. Anyone else ever come across this kind of guitar? What do you think?
