I put in a weber, but replaced it with Jensen C8R.. Sounds mighty fine.
I read that article also. He really liked the WGS version.
8 speakers are pretty odd. The fender I had in there from the 60s
actually sounded great, but, I did not want to deal with tear..

I like all my WGS speakers (6 and counting), including the G8C paired w/ a 10" Veteran in a home brew 5F1 (oversized cab).

I just listened to all the clips of all of these.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of those you named, though I prefer alnicos in these amps. I have the Weber Sig 8S, and it's great. It sounds pretty much just like the sample here. I think the Weber 8A125 sounds even better, but it's a lot more expensive. If I were choosing, I'd probably go with the 8A125 (provided that your cap can isn't too long; mine's 3.5 in, and so the 8A125 won't fit, even with the narrow basket). It has a darker sound that I find nice, and the OD with those things is great and gritty and growly.

I really liked the chime of the clean samples of the P8R, but it can get a bit tricky with OD or with the wrong pickup. I think the WGS could handle more of a wide range of tones, OD's, pickups, etc. What kind of guitar(s) do you play? For example, if you play Esquires, I'd stay away from the P8R...

I put a pair of the WGS 8's into my bandmaster head. Wasn't expecting too much to be honest but was quite blown away at how big these little speakers sound. They handle the low end really well!

I too wish they had included the Eminence Patriot 820H. I've been wanting to try one in my little Dean Markley.

I'm planning on getting Eminence 820h's for my 4x8. I love the 12" Cannabis Rex, so...

C-Rex is the bomb for sure. Is the 820h like a little C-Rex?

I'd really like to hear a sample of one of those in a Champ or Vibro Champ. The only clip I recall listening to was Josh Smith playing through one, but it was through a Pennalizer Champ clone. Any ideas on where to listen to one through a C or VC?

I've wondered this myself. I took the specs pages on each speaker from Eminence and cropped out the specs and frequency graph for both, so we can compare them here. I didn't figure out how to convert them to .jpeg or something so they'd show up as pictures here, so two .pdfs are attached.
