L&M contacted Fender without me even asking and let me know that Fender is at least 6-8 weeks away from shipping my Esquire. Apparently I will be one of the first, if not the first, in Canada to get one.

Agreed. If you have an Esquire, go Broadcaster since it's a BC and not a Tele! It's a no brainer.

I already have an AO50s Telecaster so an Esquire would be nice to have as well. Not too fussed about the finish, but if pushed I'd take the blue one. What's the going rate for a kidney these days?

    UPDATE

So, I stopped by my local shop on Friday evening on my way home from work. The owner insisted that I take the Broadcaster home and play it overnight before deciding - woohoo!

What a beautiful guitar, the total package is nice. The guitar is light (to me), it weighs 7 lbs. 4 oz., and the pickups sound crazy good, full - fat - and smoky, more blues than twang.

However, after 2+ hours of playing the Broadcaster back and forth against my Esquire, the Broadcaster went back to the shop the next morning :([IMG]

My Esquire (parts caster) is a Baja body, Classic Series 50's neck, 52 style hardware, and a Cavalier Holy Grail pickup wired to a Mike Eldred mod. When comparing the bridge pickups, my Cavalier Holy Grail pickup has the growl and bite I associate with a Tele/Esquire, twang for days!

The shop owner will contact me again when the Esquires arrive, maybe the Tim Shaw pickup will have the tone I'm looking for?

Pics below, and if anyone is interested here is the link to the guitar:

That was cool of the shop to let you take it for a test run. Did it still have that sweet nitro smell? I love that.

So aren’t those pickups great? I mean the whole guitar is just amazing to me. Such a handsome instrument. And that U-Neck is just right and feels like coming home. As I touched upon earlier, some kind of distinct magic happens whenever I play my Broadcaster. It feels like a special event or something. I get transfixed on the whole vibe and it’s as if the entire history of the telecaster filters through my soul and inspires me to play better.

I hope that if you decide to go with the Esquire, you discover your own magic with that.

    Good luck!

Hey, guess what? Your thread played a major influence on my decision to actually buy a 70th Anniversary Esquire!!!! I got it in sunburst and it arrived about a week ago! So now I’ve got it plus the Broadcaster. I’m going to post an NGD for it soon!

Oh man you take really great pictures, that guitar looks awesome! Enjoy!

I'm still waiting for my local shop to get these in stock, I'll let you know if I pull the trigger.

In the meantime, I went ahead and purchased a Kiesel HH2 (Allan Holdsworth) model - it's arriving today!
