I have a buddy who has a 79' strat. Maple, with the mocha finish. I get the feeling that yea, these aren't in high demand, but I like every era that Fender had man. Each different. But I do with that the Classic 70's strat came with the option of Mocha, and maybe the bullet nut option or just a plug at the headstock. I'd love to see any boys with these mocha starts man. They got my attention.

I had one until recently.
A '74.
Fender called them "Walnut"
I don't know how/when they became "Mocha"
A little heavy...maybe 8#.
Super tight neck joint.
Great sounding guitar.

This is what I think of for Mocha Brown

I know there are a lot of variations in colors, I had a Tele Deluxe that was a lighter semi transparent brown, what I'd consider Mocha is a lot darker.
This is not my guitar, just a picture that I found online.
I wish I still had my 73 Telecaster Deluxe, that was one I should have kept!

I guess you mean sell...
I actually sold it because it was ALL original and needed a refret, and some guy who was more concerned with collectibility than playability ponied up ;)

You've got good taste Dogfootblues! I like those too, just like that. One day I hope I can have one, either walnut or black.

You gonna get a Strat now?!

I picked a '75 Mocha strat earlier this year in a trade. I'd been wanting an early 70's bighead strat for a long time. I already have a '79 Antigua Strat, but just wanted an earlier one. I actually traded a $500 Fender Tele for it.

The original tuners were changed to Grovers. It also has a replacement pickguard and a changed out bridge pickup, but the original bridge pickup is in the case.

I'm having it worked on right now and I'm having a black pickguard put on and the original pickup put back in. The pickups are '74 graybacks.

Here's a pic of my '75 Mocha Strat.

does anyone know if these models were based on robbie robertson's last waltz 'bronzed' strat...the pics here with the white pups look very similar - i would love one of these.

Mine was a '74 and I think The Last Waltz was made in '76.
So...no.

Haha. I'll tell you what. I am looking for a strat. But probably a 50's classic. One day I'll be able to afford to spend more than $500 or $600 on a vintage guitar.

But yea man, we share a lot in common lineboat, you're definitely of sound mind and soul.

My buddy has a 76 I think. Nice little number. Heaven. But ****in awesome.

Thanks DFB.

To be honest the Tele did cost me $500 from a pawnshop. I got an amazing deal on a '11 Fender 60th Anniv. Blonde Tele in mint condition.

Technically I traded about a $1000 Tele for it,but since I didn't have much in it, I felt the '75 Strat would hold more value in the long run.

The MAIN reason I did the trade was the the Strat has an amazing non-baseball bat neck, and the guitar is very light. It was a combo I couldn't pass up.

Ha! Never been called a sound mind before, but I'll take it!

Man, if you get a Strat, it's gotta be a McCready style!
