Is it just me or does anyone else get the impression that “Rocky Horror Picture Show” owes a deep debt of gratitude to “Ballroom Blitz”?
Rocky Horror was on stage in '73, the movie was '75. Ballroom was 1973. I think it was in the air, like typewriters and radio transmission.

This was everywhere, as in worldwide, in 1970 AND it was definitely on AM radio:

This song came on in the grocery store the other day and I instantly recognized it although I probably hadn't heard it in decades. Took me a couple of days to figure out what it was called.

Released a couple weeks before 1980 descended upon us.

Only then could you hear the Carpenters, Pink Floyd, John Denver and Steely Dan back to back.
Gordon Lightfoot and Roberta Flack were a nice touch too.
Jim Croce was always welcome, and Sly and the Family Stone.
What a great sound track to grow up to.
I remember reading a newspaper article in the early '90s mentioning the "fragmentation of radio in the '80s."

I miss the eclecticism that was AM radio. Those days will never return.
