Do you have a preference?
Definitely 34/84 for my taste.
I like EL34's best.
I like em' all, but I require my amps to be clean, and loud, if necessary.
I haven't owned an EL34 powered amp in decades, but it's been on my mind lately.
6 six is more better for me, but i think there are less amps and hard to find good ones. I think the 4 club have more good amps and more many.
My favorite amps have been 6L6/6V6 but I've been falling in live with a 4xEL34 this past month. All my EL84 amps save one have moved on.
I like el34s and 6v6s. I don't fit. Lol.
Can I vote 6v6/el84? I dig the lower wattage. 5e3 + ac15 on full blast really does it for me.
I’ll have one of each, thanks.
I've never bought an amp because of what tubes were used.
I have 3 6L6 amps and 1 EL84. I like em both for different reasons, but my preference is for clean headroom so the 6L6 amps get the most use.
Ive never owned a 6v6 or an EL34 amp. Wouldn't mind trying them but I'm out of room for more amps.
Bill would be an origin 50 man
Can you explain what this means? I don't understand!
Reverse here...3-6v6 amps VC,5e3 and a 40sChicago...one E34l Origin 20.
Right. Buy the circuit, not the tubes. The circuit is the tone.
I love Vox-style amps...Matchless, Morgan, DrZ, and of course..the original. But for playing live, in a mix...they just break up too soon for my chicken pickin, more country-style.
So Fender and Fender-based 6L6 amps for me when I play out.
I thought el84 was my preference until I bought 6v6 and played that every day. But now I’ve played el84 for the last month.
So the answer as always is both.
I can't choose. 6V6 or EL34, I have both, for variety.
I've got 6v6, el34 and el 84. I like them all but my 6v6 has such a beautiful, round, smooth sound. It is probably the richest sounding amp I own.
I think for me it's more, what tubes are in the amps you like the most? Ironically I voted El84/EL34 but, have two 6V6 amps and an EL84 amp on order and being built. Over my lifetime, more have been British flavoured than American. I usually associate big highs, big lows, and neutral mids to 6L6's. I associate more mids with 6V6, EL84, and EL34. I really like EL84 amps but when I need more low mids will go with 6V6 or EL34's.
