Had a red on red 69 427/425 horse when I graduated high school in 1981. It was my 3rd car. It was wrecked and totaled when I bought it from the insurance company. I had to do a lot of work to get it on the road, but it was my dream car! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't regret letting it go.

I only had a 64 Chevelle, but I did put a 396 motor and 411 posi in it. Turned 12.5 with street tires.

My best friend in high school’s dad was a serious Corvette guy. Each child got a Corvette for their 16th birthday. The only catch was that it was completely disassembled and organized on moving blankets in the garage. I helped my friend’s older brother put his’65 Marina Blue (looks like Lake Placid Blue) 327/365 ragtop together. My buddy’s car turned out to be a ‘68 427/435 ragtop.

My son has one, the real thing. Except his has a Crate 383 Engine that pumps out 454 horsepower on the dyno, with a five speed now, but he has all the old stuff sitting in his garage. His is red though.

I’ll bet that car experience was 1000x better because of your work to get it on the road. Cool story.
top 5 car for me (68-72)...dont care if it has the lowest hp engine...but it must be a convertible

The 427 was my introduction to the single overhead cam design. As soon as I saw it I thought hmm...i wonder about dual overhead cam?
