Is it just the one missing post, or eight missing posts? It would need to be every other one for my lame theory to be correct.

That's a pretty amp. I would be all over it and I love 2x10 setups

From the only other picture I have it is hard to tell, but it looks like there are only 4, so every other post may be missing.

It's a moot point since the speakers in it at present appear to be original or at least correct-ish. But there's no reason to break off those posts unless installing speakers with only four holes each. That usually means JBL or Celestion.

Re: that grille cloth. The width of the wale appears to be wide, but I am not there with the amp. There are those can see that immediately in person....because they adhere to the age old adage...caveat emptor...buyer beware. If the wale is wider than vintage cloth’s wale, that indicates modern cloth. If the chassis were pulled the staples could be seen.
My ‘63 Pro prototype has replacement cloth, but it is from a larger vintage BF cab. One fellow at a show immediately knew that the cloth was correct...but the silver staples clued him in to the replacement aspect. He asked where I got the cloth? I did not replace the original cloth, and I surely wish my buddy had not pulled what turned out to be original cloth.he should have noted the black staples...but....back in the mid-‘90’s we were not aware of that first BFTR shipped that had....wait for it....Ampeg cloth and a 1x15. That BFTR is fully documented from the custom order to this date. It can be found in Vintage Guitar archives. That BFTR has a stamped serial number in the chassis whereas my prototype BF Pro does not have a stamped serial number....old man pencil scrawl ‘000A’ is written where the stamped number ‘should’ be.
All of this to say....know what something really is before paying for it.

Those speakers certainly look to have lived their lives together even though one is 14 weeks older than the other.

I wouldn't hesitate if the funds were there. Heck, if someone offered me one like that I'd trade my blackface Princeton Reverb....and I love the PR.

I think the blackface Vibrolux Reverb is one of the best amps Fender ever built. I have a '67 and it's the one for me. I've gone through a lot of amps, some of them boutique high end, and the BFVR is the best of the bunch.
$1900 is a fair price if the amp is in good, mostly original condition.
It would be a no brainer for me.

I love my '66 and I'd pay that price for one, but those missing speaker mounting posts might be something you can use to get the price lowered a tad.

Going to try and pick it up tomorrow.

Work - it allows me to afford these things, but gets in the way of me enjoying them.

My ‘66 VR with original Jensen C12NS speakers. I love this amp.

Price has already been negotiated down, so I think it's set.

Also, leverage is gone once you say you'll take it, haha.

I kind of agree, I own a mostly all original ‘65 Deluxe Reverb (minus speaker) and I love it, but if I had to choose which amp to keep, my BFDR or my BFVR, right now it would be the Vibrolux.

Was just arranging pickup/payment and was told that I have not matched the high bidder on the amp... Nothing to see here... New price, 2850 cad or 2150 usd. I'm not too happy, and may just pass.
