Only a slightly suspicious advert, huh?

I would never buy a vintage guitar based on that advert!

I often see folks selling expensive instruments online with few or no pix, and those of questionable quality. And when did the adjective "sweet" become an adequate description?

Our area is a treasure trove of vintage instruments. While many ads may be lacking in high res pictures, elaborate descriptions and information that a buyer may want I've seen and purchased some real sweet stuff over the years from craigslist and Kijiji Ont.

Just imagine the gear under beds, in closets that awaiting it's eventual release. LOL

The guitar does look like it could be a '66 but it's been stripped and refinished and doesn't have the original bridge pickup. From the limited blurry pictures all '66 characteristics seem to be there except as noted. It could be a restoration project but $3500 is a lot to pay for a project.

Looks like Kijiji must be the Canadian knockoff of eBay.

it's more like craigslist, it's not supposed to be an auction site.

Quite right...Kijiji is like Craigslist. We do have Canadian eBay.
I imagine if I was interested I could arrange to see the guitar or look at more photos, but $3500 seems like too much to me to...not to mention the price for a few nights stay in the proverbial doghouse.

Ok but they seem to have copied the eBay page layout.

From what I can see I agree with the others, it has def. had a refinish.
as stated the bridge pup is obviously non-original. Switch-tip is missing. Also the strap buttons are non-original.
Tuners look like originals, so does the transitional logo and the rest (as far as one can tell from these crappy pics). Taking all this into account the price seems a bit steep maybe unless it turns out to be a fantastic player. But with a shady add like this I would never buy it sight unseen anyway.
    my $0.02

Just to clarify for everyone what kijiji is - It's local classifieds.

There's nothing shady about the ad (apart from the novel spelling of 'non-original').

He doesn't have to write a book or provide a video diary of the guitar - he's not shipping to buyers 'sight unseen'. The idea is you go and see the guitar. There you can ask questions, hold the guitar, play it, etc.
