Waiting for my new cabinet to arrive:D. I ordered a 1x12 tan-blonde combo from Mather Cabs. I also ordered a Warehouse Veteran 30, Vintage 30 Clone. Anyone ever tried one? How much different is the bassman going to sound through this 1x12 combo, then in my 4x12 Peavey?

It's going to sound much better if you bought a 4 ohm speaker. ;)

well, i couldnt find any 4 ohm 1x12 setups... my amp tech told me that you can basiclly go one step away in ohms without doing anything bad to the amp... Like if its a 8 ohm, you can do 4 ohm speaker or 16 ohms speaker, or if its 4 ohm, you can do 2 ohm speaker or 8 ohm speaker. Thanks for input!!!!

And just for clarifying terms... a "combo" amp means the amp chassis and speakers are both housed together in the same box. It's the opposite of a separate amp head and speaker cabinet. Just FYI. ;) CS

thanks! does less output mean that i can get "the tone" without it being extremely loud? and how much les volume can i expect through a 1x12 then through my 4x12 16ohm peavey triple xxx? Its just too loud right now!
and thats what i ordered... a 1x12 combo. the picture is just of the head. for the combo, i will just take the chassis out of this head, slide it in, and have the ultimate to-go amp

My apologies. You can tell us when you get the cab. THe Peavey will be louder, and imho you should not be running 16 ohms against a 4 ohm head.

You definately should not run your sweet bassman head into a 16 ohm cab! Major no no unless you want to fry your nice vintage amp.

I would make one more small investment here. Either get a 4ohm 12" speaker for your combo or get a Weber Z-matcher (http://taweber.powweb.com/store/zmatch.htm).

dang. i would love that zmatch thing, but its so big and bulky, it would be a pain to carry around. Do you know of any relativly cheap, but good 4ohm 12 inch speakers?

There are two ways to match the 1x12 to your Bassman:

    1) Get a 4 ohm speaker... (Mod. edit) from either Weber or Mojo.

    2) Replace the output transformer w/a multitap OT...this is what I did for Will's amp. He's running an 8 ohm Celestion w/a Allen Amps multitap transformer. (edit)

    Cheers ;-)
