So folks, someone just posted this on Facebook. Real or fake? Looks too good to be true!
The guitar is definitely period correct. I'd say it's either an original(unlikely but possible) or an extremely good copy(think CS or AV). There's no way to be positive without more detailed photos. To be truly sure I'd want to see the neck pocket and close ups of the bridge, headstock, etc. I wouldn't buy it based off of these pics for sure. Too grainy and too few. With more pics and documentation then I would be more comfortable saying for sure.
That is from Gary's Classic Guitars. He has been around long time and very reputable.
More photos at his store website >
Wow just wow..
I believe this is an Ebay listing for it:
I would also have to order the 59 fat neck 335 while I had the credit card out
While you're at it would you mind picking me up something?
I prefer maple so if one pops up on the site jump on that one. I wouldn't want to trouble you by making you enter your card number on another site as well. I figure you don't even need to worry about price since you're already spending so much this would be considered chump change
Ha..done deal no problem.
I love the RW on that Tele's board. Brazilian?
Not sure they come any cleaner than that- a true "closet classic".
It looks too clean. Refinished? Pics have color intensity raised.
Hope Gary knows what he is selling.
Nice. Above my price point, but nice.
I keep hearing how many fakes there are in the bolt neck vintage market. And very good fakes. Not saying this one is, just in general.
I'm very happy with my newer ones. Had a 59 Strat, wasn't a big deal to be honest.Hunk of wood and some pickups..new old screw it.
Edit to add: To be honest if I had money to burn, I'd buy some old stuff for sure.
Just checked out the E-Bay listing......Whoa MaMa! Major GAS pains...
But just as an aside, it is a Custom Telecaster.
The Telecaster Custom was the 70's version with the humbucker in the neck, large pickguard and the 3 bolt neck.
mmm mmm mmm ... where's that baby been hiding for the past 55 years ?!
OH MY!! WHOA!!
Im gonna buy it. Gotta hit the bank first. Now where did I put my ski mask and gun?
I've done several deals with Gary, and he is as good as it gets. This is for real!
What are all these vintage shops going to do with their gear in the next few years when all the baby boomers who would pay that much are gone?
Probably sell to the next generation of guitarists who wish they'd been born earlier,
and want classic real vintage stuff, like their hero's owned and played . . .
