    Hello,
yesterday I talked to a guy from a GC. He told me that almost every famous Tele player uses a Tele with a vintage style Bridge with 3 saddles.

    What do you think?
Which notable player uses a 6 saddle bridge?
Only Keith comes to my mind...

Off the top of my head, Andy Summers. He did pretty well with a six saddle bridge

The guy at GC is silly

This is why you shouldn’t converse with the Guitar Center employees. Lol.

"almost every" is an oxymoron, similar to the GC employee with which you spoke. IMO, famous guitar players use whatever works for them.

I guess it would depend on if you call these guys beginners:
    Albert Collins
    Pete Townshend
    Will McFarlane
    Joe Strummer
    Scotty Anderson

Albert Collins used a 6 saddle vintage style. Muddy Waters eventually used a 6 saddle. All of mine are 3 saddle vintage, except for my Albert Collins tribute.

oddly enough if you pop over to Fender.com and select telecaster and then artist models there are 8 models. Two are three saddle and six are six saddle.

Ask your GC employee for his wisdom on tone woods and caps, should be fun.

Are you sure you were talking to an employee? That almost sounds like a Candid Camera setup

The three-saddle bridge was designed and built by a beginner. ;)

You should enlighten that CG employee to compensated saddles.

Well, Tom Petty (RIP) is holding the guitar upside down, so that must be from his early days.

Thank you all! I will show the guy from the GC your answers. The pictures and the videos are really cool!

I've read in a forum that Fender introduced the 6 saddle bridge in the mid 70ies.

Does anyone know, if there were also non Fender after market 6 saddle bridges in the late 60ies?

This reminds me of the time I accompanied a coworker to buy live lobsters. She never made them, and wanted to impress her boyfriend. (Pre-Internet.)

Well, I had told her how and how long to steam them, but when the Haitian woman working there pulled them out of the tank, my friend asked HER. And she said to BOIL THEM FOR 40 MINUTES!

I told my friend this woman was nuts, but I guess because she was a seafood "professional," she later followed her advice instead of mine. Needless to say, on Monday morning, she told me what a disaster it was.
