As I'm sure most know, the AVRI pickups got an overhaul in '97 (as I recall).

Obviously, the pole pieces got beveled, but what about materials? Resistances?? Etc.?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Wish I could help. Posted a picture of the bevels. :)

Not necessarily 'the best' Strat pickups- just the nicest set I've ever owned and used.

Same here. They're the baseline for classic Strat tone.

One apparent difference from a sample of two: I have a '91 AVRI Strat, so it has the first gen pickups in it. The resistances read a little higher on mine (very low 6k-range) than the current 57/62 offering specs (high 5k-range) on Fender's website.
