Looking at finished sales on ebay this seems like a good deal even though there are a few good dings in it. Wasn't really looking for a Tele but I do love Highway One Strats.

I concur. Always liked the Highway One series and that's a fair price. If I were in the market for a Tele that would be a likely buy for me. What are you waiting for?

I'm at work at the moment and have been chasing a particular Strat for a couple of days. Should have stayed off FB lol.

Real rosewood and looks like no dings on the neck too.

This is the 2nd gen but I can't find anywhere online what the differences are between this and the 1st gen. Anyone know? There's a maple neck 2nd gen listed as well at $750.

I scored both my '09 Highway 1 Honey Blonde guitars at pawnshops 1 1/2 yrs. ago.

I picked up my HW1 Tele for $100 and my HW1 Strat for $500.

They were both in original condition and both had very little were.

Some guys don't like the original pickups, but since I have a lot of other Tele's and Strat's, there's not reason at all to mod them.

I accept them for what they are.

I had a 2007 model, hot Alnico 3 pickups, fatter frets. I have read that the earlier generation, ending 2005ish, had alnico 5 pickups, but I don't know about the frets.

Mind you, my knowledge is from discussions on this forum and the gear page. I did take a quick look at the Fender archives, but I didn't see anything. Maybe I didn't dig deep enough.

That's pretty much the asking price for a used player series at this point so seems like a good deal to me. I've read the necks are finished in poly as opposed to the nitro on the bodies. Interesting combo.

Seems like a deal. You can buff those marks out, and blend in with some minwax, maybe some dye or local paint if you break thru to the wood.

The pickups are hotter and the frets are bigger on the 2nd generation.
I know the Strats got a narrower string spacing at the bridge and a "Greasebucket" tone circuit , I'm no 100% sure about the Teles

I purchased a HWY 1 Strat in 04 , since then I have parted with every other Strat. Its a great axe, if the thin finish bugs you, take it apart and spray a lite coat of gloss or semi gloss.( satin) A year or so back I was going to purchase a HWY 1 Tele, Honey Blonde. to match the Strat, it was $600 in very good shape. Then it dawned on me, the only reason I was buying it was because it matched the Strat ! So I passed. IF I was in the market for a Tele, that would have been the 1st choice at the time. Great guitars, well worth the money.
