I ve been looking for date of my New Telecaster, 52 reissue and found this site.
BUT. Couldn't find database information stuff about serial number and product date.

I spent 30 mins on Ebay and found many 52 reissue telecaster Serial and Date.

If this is illegal in this forum or problem , please let me know. I will delete this post.

FYI, I omitted any information with hard-to-read serial number, or any guitar without year (date) info.

11932 --- 1989

16858 --- 6/7/93
18404 --- 7/8/93

25425 -- 1996 (2002)
27194 --- 1997
29460 --- 1998

31790 --- 10/22/99
33401 --- 1999

3602X --- 2000
37229 --- 2000

42447 --- 2001

43053 --- 2003
45108 --- 5/28/2003

50884 --- 2005
54809 --- 2007

7103X --- 2010
74771 --- 2014

75365 --- 2011 (hot rod)

X is unreadable number. Whole date's shown in COA paper or Neck date stamp.

It's all corona, after 1985, serial stamped on bridge plate.

I found some with "V" serial (seems for foreign export) Not included here.

Hope this doesn't make privacy violation matter.

Thanks for your share

If you'd rather not unscrew the neckplate and look at the date in the neck pocket, you can call or email Fender at consumerrelations@fender.com with the serial number and they will look it up in their database and tell you the date of manufacture and specs of your guitar.

While the serial numbers do tend to jump around from year to year, there is, as you've shown, a general pattern for approximate age.
There were also periods when they didn't come with a COA - between August 2006 & 2016.
The best advice is to contact Fender's consumer relations dept. with the serial no. to confirm the date of manufacture.

Serial number format also depends on the year of manufacture. That info you published only holds for the AVRI models that were made until the summer of 2012. When the revised series came out in August 2012 they went to a format that does start with a "V", followed by 2 digits for the year, followed by a 5-digit serial number. So a revised American Vintage model from August 2012 would have a "V12xxxxx" number stamped on the bridge plate. After they ran out of the V12 plates they switched to V13 plates in 2013, etc.

They also started using that format on the neck plates of the other AV models at that time.

Sorry to piggy back on this thread, but seemed more relevant than creating my own...and it IS pretty recent. I'm a long time lurker and currently have a MIM Telecaster with Lindy Fralin pickups and a MIJ '72 Thinline with Curtis Novak Wide Ranges in it. I'm about to pull the trigger on an AVRI 52 Reissue and just wondering about the date on it. I Believe it to be 1996 - based on the attached photos, does that look correct? Looking forward to hangin around! ;)

James, I'm no expert, but I'm on my second AV 52. There are a couple of clear dates stamped mine, but yours is really hard to tell. Your best bet is the base of the neck at the truss rod screw.

The date on mine, (as most are) is faded and not completely legible, hopefully yours will be clear. Mine had the 6 barrel bridge, so no serial number. If yours has the 3 barrel, then the serial number is stamped on it. The numbers are pretty random, but there's enough threads on serial numbers that you'll be able to narrow it down.

I'm adding a couple of pics of mine so you can compare.

The V serial number may be on the neck plate, and if so are vintage reissue of various ilk. I evaluate each and every one on a three point scale. Play-ability, feel and sound.

you are the judge jury and execution on that issue. What I like you may hate, and what i hate you may like. That is fine. It is like women. Curves no curves, perhaps men. I am not going to judge, but you wear what you choose.

As per MBGUITAR, talk with Fender Consumer relations, here is the neck and body pocket of my '52 Telecaster reissue 1997. It is a copper color , serial # 300XX so you can see that these serial numbers are all over the place..
Looks, playability and sound(s) are second to none .!!

That's nice. Those Copper '52 reissues were only made between 1997 and 1/2001.

I'm after one of the Black '52 reissues (with a white pickguard) that Fender made between 1997 and 1/2000. It seems Fender kept making the Copper ones for a year longer than the Black.

Hi, I'm also on an endless mission to try and date this one. It has a Hector Montes stamp and a blurred 6 digit stamp. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks
