So last year I picked up a used 2007 Hot Rod Telecaster, all original.

This guitar has really grown on me, but I'm looking to make it fully noiseless.

Love the SD Firebird pickup in the neck, but was looking to swap out the bridge pickup to something noiseless.

I am considering the Dimarzio Area Hot T pickup - would this be a good match for the neck firebird already in the guitar? Also, would I be OK staying with the stock 375k pots were I to use the Area Hot T with the SD Firebird?

I have the SD firebird pickup and used to have the Area Hot T. Unfortunately not at the same time.

If you like the stock bridge pickup, then yes, I think that combination would work well.

One suggestion: the Mojotone Broadcaster Quiet Coil. I own that, and feel like it would be an even better match. The output is good, but more importantly:

1. I think it comes closer to a regular single coil in tone and feel. When I A/B'd it to guitars with nice singles (like the bridge pickup in your Hot Rod and a cool higher wound pickup from Benson Custom) it passed with flying colors.

2. Mojotone recommends 500k pots, so it should do just fine with your 375k.

The Area Hot T should be great. I am using one with a Duncan '59 bucker in the neck and it's a great noiseless guitar. I'm running 250k pots in that guitar but 375k should be perfect. Go for it, George

You’ll be fine going that route.

On mine, I switched out the pots for 250K, and added a super switch for 5-way so I could get all of the Tele and Esquire sounds, oh and put in a Duncan BG-1400. That worked well for me.

Thanks for all the input, I am going to get the quiet coil broadcaster

so, another thing I am considering is the neck pickup, since I’m having this work done anyway

I love the stock SD firebird in the neck slot, but was wondering if the Lollar firebird would be enough of an upgrade to justify the cost.

The Area Hot T is a good match. I have one in my ‘83 along with an original Mini humbucker. My favorite bridge pickup is a DiMazio Chopper T which I have paired to Duncan Firebird pickups in 2 Tele’s and a Dynasonic in a third.
