That's more than I've ever paid for a guitar.

And why would the notoriously economically minded Leo knock out an alligator skin case for a pine 'working mans' guitar?

Doesn't "poodle case" usually refer to a Gibson case? I thought the Fenders were called thermometers.

I've still got the original case from my '57 LP Jr, I wonder...

When I let the Jr. go it went with a nice modern Gibson case.

We should ALL click "watch" to make the numbers skyrocket. That way, he'll think he might actually have a chance of selling it. He'll be holding that thing for years, lol.

My 52 came with a thermometer case. Back then I thought I should just throw it and the original strap away as they were old and nasty compared to new ones. But I asked here and folks said, "No, you don't want to do that."

After reading some threads at various sites about bad behavior and trade offers on Reverb, I'm tempted to offer a trade of a Martin Backpacker, a pen that just leaked over my hands, and $67.23.

But then he may accept, I'd be out of those things, and I like my Fender G&G blue tweed case better anyway.

And its been previously painted and stripped?
    lord help us.....

At least the shipping quote isnt.... Whaaaaa?

Ok. Anybody interested in a 42' Martin case?
Nothing special about it other than that. A little "rough around he edges"

    Never been painted. Or stripped.
And a bid well below 5k would get you free shipping too......

Well that's two things I have learned today, what a poodle case is ( never heard of one), and never buy one!

if I ever wanted to sell my 52 it may fetch 5k more for a 'period correct case' (mine came with a nice old 50s/60s rectangular case which works fine) but given that I don't plan on selling any time soon, I'd be leaving that 'problem' to someone else!
it doesn't make them sound or play better afaik!

collectors will be collectors, let one of them buy it.

thermometers and poodles are different, but not as different as actual thermometers and poodles, and they still don't improve your playing!

My rationale is how the hell can a guitar without a case be worth $30,000 in the first place?

I saw that too. I have a running daily email feed with Reverb for Telecaster cases because it always seems that there are more Telecasters than cases in my house. I guess you can ask whatever you wish, and maybe take an offer. Someone WILL want that case. But maybe not 5k worth of want...
