Hi guys,

I just wanted to make a recap of the most common ways to use the Tube Screamer because...because it seemed a cool idea just to have all these info in one single video!

wait, let me rephrase that: it's because I don't have a life of course :D

Jokes aside, I hope it is useful to you fellow tone chasers...this pedal must be one of the most versatile pieces of equipment that a guitarist can have! Aside from the volume boost (that part is easy) it's astonishing how well it sonically mixes with any kind of amp or other pedal!

I'm sure there are tons of other ways to use it!

If, for some reason, you happen to enjoy this video just consider stopping on youtube and leaving a like or whatever!...it really helps me a lot!

Side note: I'm posting this on other forums too...I hope didn't spam anyone !;)

I think tubescreamers are good at one thing...pushing an already dimed amp to give it extra harmonics. That it does very well. It's too nasally as an overdrive for my liking.

You're right...whenever I can I do that and then use the volume on the guitar to adjust the amount of saturation...

Unfortunately I still need walls and windows in my house so I couldn't demonstrate this...:D

I use mine with a cranked amp. I leave the gain on 1 and tone 12 ocock, Guitar cleans up really good with volume pot

Brilliant! I've just swapped my tubescreamer and OCD clone round and it makes a great difference and I'm really happy with the tone. Thanks very much!

I look forward to building an OCD clone at the weekend! I've built just about every other coveted OD pedal so far - why not this one?

Thanks to everyone! I'm glad you appreciate me nerding out about pedals :)

Soon I'll review The joyo Vintage Overdrive, a tube screamer clone, and then I'll blind test it against the original... That should be cool! the clones are here fellow humans!

It's the Joyo Vintage Overdrive that I use with my OCD. I found the VO didn't work at all well with my 5E3 (also DIY) until I put an e/q pedal (Boss GEB-7) at the end of my pedal chain and notched out the 400Hz by -15dB and the 500Hz by -7½dB. The VO is now always on and I wind down the guitar vol to clean it up.

I suppose the mid-hump of the VO is filling in the e/q notch of the pedal. The pedal e/q I set from post #7 on this TDPRI thread to give my 5E3 a sort of Blackface tonality.

Do you run the amp clean?
