Is it possible to wire a 4-way switch to give the following combinations?

Position 1: bridge pickup, with tone control
Position 2: bridge and neck pickups, in parallel, with tone control
Position 3: neck pickup, with tone control
Position 4: neck pickup, tone control disengaged

I don't have a 4-way switch in front of me to try and work out how to wire it up, so I thought I'd toss this question out here and see if anyone has done this.

I find I use the neck pickup with the tone control wide open 99% of the time, and I use the bridge pickup with some degree of roll-off 99% of the time. So it's kind of fiddly to have to be adjusting the tone control every time I switch pickups. I'm thinking the 4-way might be a handy way to go for me, if it'll work.

    Thanks

I don’t think it’s possible, but I’m open to being corrected if anyone figures out a wiring to do that.

You could always use a “no-load” tone pot, to take it out of the circuit when you go to the neck pickup.

Personally, the whole point of getting a 4-way is to get the pickups in series for a setting.

I'm also gonna say no... I think you need another pole to make the tone pot come and go.

    Thanks, everyone.

Another solution I've kicked around is installing a push-pull tone pot, wired to move the tone control from its standard place in the circuit, to the bridge pickup's 3-way switch lug.

That or since you use the neck pickup tone up full 99% of time just remove it from the tone control.

Use a no-load tone pot and on ten it's out of the circuit in any position.
