My day just got seriously good. A lady is looking for someone to take $4 Million off her hands. It was left to her by her late husband and, as she has no kids, she’s giving it to me to use for good causes. I’ve got to contact her via the forum (she emailed me), and she’ll send me a letter of authority to send to the bank in Turkey.
Anyone here know how I should reply? I’ve got an email address but the line at the bottom says, as the message came via the forum, I must reply the same way.
Also, do you think I’ll be cast asunder if I take just enough to buy a Custom Shop or two for myself.
Quick replies appreciated as I have a limited time to claim the money.

Seriously, does anyone get taken in by this s**t?

not sure how it appears to have come via this forum, always thought it was pretty safe?

Did she forget to tell you time is short due to her terminal disease?

Yes, people do get taken by this. Maybe not often, but the scheme has been around in some form or another forever, for a reason I reckon.

    My scheme is simpler.
If you send me $20 and a self addressed envelope with a stamp on it, I will immediately invest your money in a sure thing and mail you back the profit.
    Sure thing.
    Guaranteed.

Anonymous email offers of millions, phone offers for student debt I don't have, expired car warranties that aren't expired, emergency contact required for warrants that don't exist, urgent debt and credit rating risk for debts I don't owe....its relentless and constant. Now that I'm working from home, my home phone goes off about 3 times an hour, dominated by all this fallacy. Tons of effort to cheat, scam, deceive and steal from what is obvious to me, but unfortunately convincing for others, otherwise they'd stop. I hate to say it, but I'm pretty sure its designed to attack older, less aware, less clear citizens who've got the money, but lack clear thought and judgement. Definitely criminal fraud.

Yep, worldwide. I had to change my landline number a year or so back, just couldn’t handle the rubbish calls. Mostly not out and out cons., just trying to sell me some or other legit but c*a* insurance or scheme.

You know what they say, "If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is". ;)

OTOH, they also say, "There's a sucker born every minute".

Several years ago, I signed up for NOMOROBO......it's free, and blocks most computer generated "Robo Calls". You get one ring, the NOMOROBO recognizes it as not legitimate, and intercepts the call. Lately, a few more have been "getting through", so if I don't recognize a number, I let answering machine get it. They usually don't leave any message. I probably average 2-4 one ring calls per hour. If Dante were to write the Inferno today, he'd include a special circle in Hell for telephone solicitors.

Wait! I thought she only reached out to me!

I guess we'll just have to see who she trusts more.

This is your absolute last chance to send me just $5! Don't dare miss this once in a lifetime chance!. Once it's gone, it's gone forever. So act now, before it's too late!!

Most of it's automated now. So no effort at all. Out of millions of emails or robocalls, just one or two bites is ROI.

I keep getting the same email from different girls! Weird. Maybe they all live together! :) Not sure how they all know me, or why they want to.... y'know... ;) But they all call me by my email name! So cute! Hope my wife doesn't find out.

She also has an English name, both her first name and the last name (of her husband too). This must be quite common for people working at the Kuwaiti embassy in Turkey.

Any number I don’t recognize gets the silent treatment. Either the line goes dead in seconds because the voice activation didn’t kick in, I hear obvious sounds of a call centre and I hang up or a ‘proper’ person who really has something worth listening to says ‘hello Mr Wright’. Here in the UK the perpetrators can call you from any area code they want, including your own local code. Latest trick is to call from a mobile. Supposed to have been outlawed but, when they’re calling from abroad, probably a law that can’t be enforced.

A while back I was away on business and kept awake by some girl continually banging on my bedroom door. Drove me mad, around about 4:30 I gave up and let here out.
