I’m planning on checking it out hopefully this weekend. I also put my Flying V up for sale and I might accept a trade offer for a Telecaster.

It’s in Burgundy with a maple board. I can dig that color.

Another good deal popped up for a 2019 player series model in butterscotch blonde for $350 and it’s closer to home for me.

The players are nice too if you don't mind an extra fret. I'd be more careful with a 2019 for that price

In addition to the vintage fret wire, those late 90s MIMs also have paper thin necks. You really have to try before buying. Assuming the thing is in tip top shape, if you have to replace that neck, 350 might not be such a good deal in the long run. Also don’t know how you feel about ceramic mag pickups. The player might be the better deal if they’re both the same price.

It's all about the neck (. . . "'bout the neck, no treble"). I'd pony up $350 in a nano second for a tele with a comfortable neck regardless of its country of origin. When you're approaching that difficult passage, who cares where the parts were assembled?

$350 for 2019 is about half of new, which is a very good price, maybe even a great price. If you like the guitar.

There might be another contender instead of the MIM. There’s a 2009 highway one telecaster with a rosewood board in honey blonde for $600 that has caught my interest.

I messaged the person and they haven’t responded yet. Hopefully I’ll get a reply soon. Not sure if a case is included.

Good luck on your quest! Sounds like you've got 3 reasonably priced options for quality Teles. They'll probably feel very different from each other, mostly due to differences in fret size and neck shapes.

As long as none of them have significant fret wear or a non-working truss rod, then it'll all come down to personal preference -- and which seller actually responds to you.

I’d love to try the highway one model. The idea of a nitro finish is a nice bonus as it would save me some $$ on going for the road worn.

My 100th post. They add up quick!

MIM prices have been creeping up i am seeing.....

I have two MIM's that i never use.I have never sold them because they were just not worth the hassle for what MIM's go for. With what i am seeing now maybe i will try and sell them.Or.........do i keep sitting on them and see if MIM prices go up even more in time? They are not in the way at all.I also am not in need of the money. But if i can sell them both for a decent price then i could put that money towards a GAS purchase.I have always done that.Any guitar, bass, amp,or pedal i sell, that money goes towards a new musical purchase.

One is a MIM Fender P i bought new in 1997.It is an amazing quality bass. The other is a 1996 MIM Fender Strat that i bought used many years ago.Sadly it is not one of the better MIM's from those years.I love the color. It is what Fender called at that time vintage white. What they are now calling butter cream i think.I keep thinking i will put another neck on it.That is the main issue with that guitar.

Yes i am a collector just as much as i am a player.Fifty years old.Never married and never had any kids.Playing and collecting makes me happy.

A 2019 BSB Player stele should have an ash body too. No longer available.

So I guess the seller with the Highway one Telecaster hasn’t responded to the 3 messages I sent him. I let him know that I could buy it outright from him but no response.

Go for it! All we do is enable GAS! Maybe we should create a thread that will talk you out of buying a guitar just to maintain balance within the GAS universe.:D
