I'm not sure of the best way, but this particular 2X4 had been in my garage for about 5 years. It seemed really dry, light, and done doing whatever it was going to do. I think that is a good way to go about it. I'm thinking of doing just what you suggest. Go to HD. Fine a few light, dry 2x4s, and let them sit for at least a year. Good luck!

I love this. I don't know what attracts me to using marginal materials and making something nice out of it. Great builds.

Many thanks but I can't take credit. My father after retiring from the US Army started preaching and furniture making. From top of the line kitchen tables, caskets down to turning plates and bowls even chess sets. His number one rule, never throw away wood and save a bag of sawdust for each type.
Rule #2 was ALWAYS keep your eyes open for anything. Lots of good things are free or cheap. My first router table was a beautiful formica sink cut out. Waste to them but a heavy stable marble router table to me, lasted over 20 years ;)

Nope - you get full credit in my book. As far as I'm concerned, having the imagination to even ask the 'what if' question and then following it up with the action to answer that question qualifies as visionary. I hope it sounds as good as it looks. I bet it will. We will be waiting with great anticipation for the field report.

Wow man. The fabric work is brilliant. I’ve used wallpaper on ply which wasn’t easy, but worked out great. This is gonna be one good looking guitar.

It's a good morning to level some frets.

This is another project I've been working on at the same time. Filing and fitting the nut today. Then time to wire her up and let her tell her story.

I rarely do this, but I spiffed-up all of the cavities. Getting close to closing this thing up. IMG_7749.JPG

Okay. It was a good day today. Got frets leveled and dressed. Got most things assembled. And I was able to get the bridge, pickups, and neck aligned. It's coming along well. IMG_7750.JPG IMG_7754.JPG IMG_7756.JPG IMG_7769.JPG IMG_7771.JPG IMG_7774.JPG IMG_7764.JPG
