2k Urethane Sink Back?

Does anyone have issues with 2 k urethane sinking back on porous woods like mahogany?
I thought there was very little to no wait time to sand and buff urethane, but I now wait 2 to 3 weeks before wet sanding and buff as I get grain showing thru after several months after...and yes I fill the grain using aqua coat...which to me never really fills...better but not glassy smooth after 5 to 6 coats and scuffing back between.

I treat it just like lacquer...I let it hang for months.

We tend to apply these finishes much thicker than intended.

There is a buttload of trapped gases in the film.

It takes time to evaporate.

Automotive refinishers do not have that issue.

Their films are MUCH thinner.

May I suggest not applying the clear until the pores are COMPLETELY filled and dried. It is difficult, and not best practice, to try to do "body work" with the clear.

It does shrink back, not as much as nitro but it does.

It absolutely shrinks back. If you want no shrink, use a polyester base coat first. I just tried it for the first time. Amazing. STINKS A LOT, though. But amazing grain fill, sands beautifully. Simtec 28X50 polyester "Easy Sanding Sealer."
