    I'm in!
This idea I've been kicking around for awhile.
Full 34 scale but mini body and Fenderish headstock.
You know how big those Thunder Bird Basses bodies are.

I want to use the stock pick guard for I can have the bird on it but will have to cut em down for it to fit. The bigger mahogany will get cut in half and doubled to make the body I think.
The smaller one will hold the pickups in the raised middle portion.

I glued two neck blanks up for a build a while ago and never used the second one. It will need more wood glued on it to work.

I dug out every bass pick up I have and will be using at least 2 of them.

I'm excited about this neck blank. The other half turned out so nice.

I made this 6 stringer off this template.
I hope it lends itself to this bass idea as well.

Its gonna be almost the exact same body build with cut down pick guard.
Was trying to get down to strat size more or less.

    This is the first cut,
This blank is fat enough to have some headstock angle.
At least I didn't mess this up.

This looks good! I’ll be watching this one.

Is that a Dano you put that other neck on? Would love to see more pics if so!

    'A Danelectro style build'

I eventually got lost in the number of repaints/touchup it took to finish

Are you going to sett the neck in deeply to minimize neck dive? That's my only real concern with small bodied instruments.

It is a legit issue for sure and not having that upper horn will make it worse.

Body will be too small for deep set I think. But is strat sized so not that small.
    Just Thunderbirds have huge bodies.

But my body being made from African Mahogany and 2 inches thick down the middle rise, will probable weigh about metric ton. Thinking of a smaller headstock too.

So......(little prayer to the guitar gods)

Oh Eric, Jimmy, Stevie, Jimmy, and Randy
Please let this guitar be dandy.
    Amen

Cutting some meat off back of neck. Will be finishing this cut by hand next to head stock.

Is that the Marshall Lead 20 in your photo in the OP? I just sold of a 1983 Marshall 5210. Great solid state amps!

My first guitar build was a slightly scaled down mahogany Thunderbird. Every guitar I've made since has been half the weight. Not sure if thats a coincidence... anyway, Excited to see how this turns out!
