How the World Really Works: The Science Behind How We Got Here and Where We're Going by Vaclav Smil
After I read your recommendation in that other post, which can't named, I ordered it from my local Library.

While researching, I came across this review...

Looking forward to perspective:)

I agree on the review saying "Smil’s own solution set is surprisingly slim" but in all honesty don't know a single simple source that also puts out much of what is in the book and with decent if not excellent reference. I felt it was a worthy read if only for the discussion of what's described as those pillars such as ammonia, cement, oil and ag as we have it sustaining our population.

Also strong for hot topic items in the context of our population. An example would be we can't just flip the switch to living something between hunter/gatherer and agriculture prior to a threshing machine and making ammonia. More common pundit type content misses stuff like that.

I tend to get on a whole lot of tangents with history and behavioral economics books and also found stuff such as this reviewer pointed out. The book is still a good overall package for a lot of stuff we (Homo sapiens) should think about and act on.

Any recommendations and opinions on other books or your feeling on this will be appreciated. My point is not to inflame as much as we all be curious, aware, and learn. Send a private message if you feel that's safest.

Not that I can see. There's too much perhaps since any idiot can self publish on the internet easily. I volunteer to be a editorial Czar.
well,if we're talking about that
I publish right here
pretty much every day, when the editors see fit

Personally I find older Books to be of greater value
I value and cherish some particular older books but there is a whole lot that has to be contemporary. There are no 1951 or even 2001 books on tech and medicine/health studying I've done recently. The book I reviewed here has some very recent and to me staggering data on what some nations have only done very recently.

At leasts until I retire I have to value and cherish the old with the new.
