The chances of finding an off-the-shelf case or bag that fits the T-5 are approximately zero. So I'd better build one.

The tolex got delivered today. The hardware came in yesterday. I picked up the velvet yesterday too.

I'll get on that after work.

Here's the case, so far.

I plan to fabricate some external corner braces from some light aluminium angle. I might add rubber feet. And I need a leash at each end to stop the lid from opening too far. I still haven't decided exactly what to use for the form fitting around the body.

I finally downloaded and installed Audacity to make some sound samples. I simply recorded and saved with no edits. I made two short recordings:

• Using the Lace Sensor (passive pick-up) through a 1/4"-USB cable to Audacity
• Acoustic using a Yeti Nano microphone

I saved them as MP3 files. How do I post them?

Winter Build Off 2021 - Thunderbird V

Specs:

• 34" scale five string bass
• 19 fret, with a zero fret
• General shape of a Reverse Thunderbird
• Hollow acoustic, 4 " deep
• Face panel is reclaimed cedar, off cuts of poplar, walnut, pine and other unknown species, around a slice of unknown branch with a lot of worm holes. The entire panel is reinforced on the inside with one layer of fibre glass.
• Perimeter is is reclaimed cedar, off cuts of poplar, walnut and pine
• Back panel is reclaimed cedar, reinforced on the inside with one layer of fibre glass.
• Poplar neck with walnut fingerboard, walnut headstock veneer
• Lace Sensor passive bass pick-up mounted to end of neck
• Walnut tailpiece, adjustable bar bridge of walnut, roasted maple and other hardwoods
• Custom built case of poplar and thin plywood, covered in tan tolex, lined with velvet and other reclaimed fabrics

Sound Files:

• Sound using Lace Sensor to USB cable
• Acoustic sound through Yeti Nano mic

Freaking awesome, love the sound through the lace sensor. Oh yeah, and the case is the icing on the cake.

Thanks. I love the Lace Sensor too. I'm going to have to use one for my Brotherhood build. Next time, I'll mount it on a pick guard.
