Hell,I was under the impression that they were unlimited but only being made DURING 2020....I'm half tempted but they will be gone by the time I can afford one....:(
The Esquire is 70 too I think?....Fenders bridesmaid guitar....

How limited will this be? I don't think the Fender text is very clear. Limited to a quantity of 2020 or production limited to the year 2020?

10% of the population are left handed but would 202 lefties buy this guitar?

How many left handed Broadcasters do you think Fender should make?

If I were left-handed and wanted this guitar I would ask Chicago Music Exchange to use their clout to pre-order one for me.

The production is not limited to only 2020 the number.....but rather they will only be made during 2020! No rush to order these, just wait till they start to hit the dealers mid Februrary and take your pick.

    That really pisses me off.

I've been trying to order some of the CS Blackguard pickups and have been told by several dealers and by Fender that those pickups were discontinued.

The most recent time was about 2 weeks ago.

    WTF!

It is kind of cool to just see one with Broadcaster on it instead of only the Nocaster ones. And the color on these are very nice. Better than the American Originals, the 52AVRI, and even better than the PV 52, even though all should have roughly the same color.

I know actual vintage 50-53 telecaster had some small variations in color when original sprayed, but these broadcasters certainly have the more "accurate" color. The originals were not orange or even yellow blonde. Though the yellow looks way better than the orange.

The originals have a closer color to banana pudding like these broadcasters. The later 54+ blonde color, what we now usually call white blonde, had a shade anywhere from vanilla pudding to basically white. So yes, 50-53, they had variations but not from amber orange to a yellow banana to banana pudding.

According to Fender web site specs they are handwound: Custom Shop Hand-Wound '50-'51 Blackguard

Of course not, this is Fender we are talking about. Fender hate lefties.

If you pay a deposit up front to secure one I think most high quality dealers will do this.

On the whole, I'd say these 70th Anniversary Broadcasters are good news.

But a couple of quick observations regarding the details:

The 12th fret dots are in the wrong place for a 1950 Fender.
The Kluson repro tuners should have no logo on the back.
The wiring should be the blend circuit as stock.
The frets should be vintage, not "tall vintage".
The neck fingerboard radius could (not should) be 9.5", the same as those Broadcasters in Nacho Banos' excellent Blackguard Book.
The barrel saddles could (not should) be steel.
The bridge saddle height adjustment screws could be angled.
There should be no route under the pickguard between the neck pickup and the control plate.

These are just my observations, but for £2K, I'd want ALL the details correct!

But, like I said, on the whole, I'd say these 70th Anniversary Broadcasters are good news.

I've got eight of these 2006 "inlay" AV52s with the FCS No-Caster pickups (out of a run of 1,000) and these, collectively, are very distinct in performance from my NOS FCS No-Caster, which also happens to be 2006. Even though the fretwire size is the same, and so is the board radius.

Until we play these, we won't know precisely what character they have.

Hey. Anyone know if these have a modern 3 way arrangement, or if they have the Blend wiring like they're "supposed" to have?

Good Lord I'll have to sell stuff to pay for it. .... Never mind.

I've always wanted a Fender Broadcaster now I'll have one.

I just did it. It has secured mine. I just called my preferred London dealer and it’s sorted.

Nope - you were right. I don't mind when someone calls me out - I don't like posting un-truths because I was lazy.
