Park Rapids MN has been putting a Christmas tree up on Main Street every year as long as I can remember. Day after Thanksgiving they light the things up. Never went to the ceremony because I hate crowds that don't involve warm weather and a beer garden. This year they didn't have any crowd I guess. Anyway after doing it for years without issue, the trees have stood through blizzards and ice storms, we've had a little wind so far.

If you think 2020 is crazy, wait until you see 2021. I was over there the other day looking around. Sheesh!

I’m actually thinking about going back to 1973 after looking over 2021. It’s beyond weird.

    Sounds about right.

I could go on, but my humor would get me in trouble.

Look, I told everyone when the Red Sox and then the Cubs started winning the World Series that the end was near, but nobody listened.

I think they knocked the tree over on purpose. It makes it a lot easier to decorate that way.

Well at least no one stole it or burned it down or threw paint all over it.

Was telling someone the other day that in 30 years, we'll be calling this, "the good old days".
Call me a pessimist, I'm not kidding. :)

I refuse the negativity. That's with it being a particularly tough year. For work it's been merciless because of the industry, niche and my particular job. For family, lots of challenges with aging parents and a family member with stage 4 cancer. I'm not taking the negative crap. Life is always do stuff, keep moving or you're in no good.

There's been positive in all this. Our family has been close. One of our kids has started thriving academically in all this. All the volunteer work I do is carrying on and I see it's had a huge impact on people who've struggled this year. It's super cool and positive to do that stuff and see it.

Be careful about your worldview. Be disciplined in your news habits. Keep your body and brain doing new stuff and challenges. The hard stuff will just be smaller parts.

My best advice for anyone feeling or thinking down is go volunteer. Every community has a civic, social, sports, parks, something at city hall or a congregation entity that always needs help. Get involved in that stuff. You will do good, and in volunteering for good things you're probably going to be in a circle of the best among us.

Not taking a negative view, lots of negative crap has happened this year that could get me down though. For instance, two days after my mom passed away, my house burned to the ground, that all sorta sucked. I still try to find some humor in all of it.
The humor may be a bit dark though. :)

I really try to be positive. Some days it’s a challenge, some days it’s not. I know things will get better, I just have no idea when. I want a change, I want to retire and do something different....I just don’t know when

Not sure I understand the tree issue. Did it fall over or was it never erected?

Wait until they lift it, find an empty bottle of schnapps, and a broken and bleeding Santa. Happy Holidays!! :)

My wife was so happy today about changing her fancy calander to December. I asked why she was so full of glee and she said, less than one month left of 2020.

I am very uncharacteristically optimistic about 2021 now.

I suspect the first month of 2021 is going to be one for the history books.

Or in Aussie parlance, "Shissy" instead of "Chrissy."

Wind blew it over, weird because they've done this for years, trees stood through blizzards and ice storms. First time one fell over.
Hate to ask my buddy that's the head of city maintenance for details, I'd imagine he's sick of hearing about it by now. :)

Never got Chrissy, did get Chrimbo, though. But that was mostly from my aunts who thought they were so clever by not directly mentioning that they considered themselves "well travelled".

I mean, I always thought they were "well travelled", but not in any polite sense.
