Doobies, Rundgren, Motorhead (Lemmy) and Priest all deserve to be in there.

Mott the Hoople, MC5 and TRex…. still not in the ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame?!?!
ABBA is in so are The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Donna Summer, NWA, Tupac Shakur, Nina Simone (love her, but...)...
    It's a flawed institution.

It is possible to be a non-profit and also to be motivated by bad things. And to suck, obviously.

Not familiar with all those acts ... But absolutely stunned that Thin Lizzy haven't even been considered years ago for the Rock n Roll HoF ....
So no guesses where my vote would go ;)
Not convinced? Just break out "Live and Dangerous"

But... ditto Rory Gallagher , should anyone here never have heard ... Try "Irish Tour" to start with.

All right I'll play gosh darn you "Yarn Weiner". How many of these so-called "legends" have EIGHT Gold Records? And how many of these so-called "legends" have 12 BILLBOARD HOT 100 SINGLES? And finally
how many of these "legends" racked up 25 MILLION UNITS IN SALES?

Ah...Let's see...actually stan... NONE of the nominees have done ALL THREE of those things. The two closest being Pat Benatar and The Doobie Brothers. Whitney Houston? I hope you're kidding.

To be Blacklisted is a terrible thing.
The MC5 - I think they're all dead except Brother Wayne Kramer - newly palpable MC5.

And now...the answer to my three questions.
    ...Steppenwolf...that's right Gentlemen.
    Steppenwolf.

Now...let's do a little Facial Recognition Quiz.
Would You recognize ANY of these nominated people off stage?...huh?

John Kay is one of The Most Recognizable People of the last 75 years in Pop Culture.
People who don't even know his Band know that's John Kay.

    Steppenwolf...The Original Heavy Metal Thunder.
They are the ones who came up with Heavy Metal Thunder.

If I were a 2020 nominee I'd hide my unrecognizable face in shame.

Hard to believe the Doobie's aren't there already for me too. My votes:
    • Dave Matthews Band
    • Pat Benatar
    • The Doobie Brothers
    • Whitney Houston
    • Todd Rundgren
    • Thin Lizzy
DMB can wait though, they are not that long in the tooth yet, but definitely a notch above the average...

Bad things, yes. I've seen that up close in my career. But "money grab," no - barring illegal activity.

At one point I would have joined in with the "no rap, no pop, why isn't MY favorite already in?". Then it dawned on me that on no day of the year does the RRHOF matter in my life. They'll never influence who I listen to or like. Why bother?

Both Link Wray and Steppenwolf made it in last year under the 'singles' category.

That Free never made it in is the reason I stopped caring about the RRHOF years ago.

Having been there more times than I care to admit...

It's geared way more towards the uninformed general public than it is to musicians.

Lot of the "artifacts" are poorly curated, unplayable and inauthentic.

There are barely enough working amps to play a club gig. Plenty of guitars. Lots of clothing.

The real Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame is in a warehouse in Philadelphia.

I never could see the point of the RRHOF.
    None at all.

It was worth having it come into existance for Alex Lifeson's acceptance speech, but other than that.....nope.

The RRHOF was pointless to me from the jump and has only gotten more ridiculous over the years larded up as it has with double entries and the like. That said, this year's list isn't the worst slate of nominees they've had.

If you're doing the thing, I always value the influence of an artist more than their record sales -- with this group I would go with TRex, MC5, Kraftwerk, Motorhead, Judas Priest. There's about a 0% chance this will actually be the inductee list.

As usual, The Smiths get snubbed. Sure glad they made room for "real rock" like Bon Jovi though!

I think it's time to pay tribute to Peter Frampton.
That guy has played some incredible chops through the years.

Well, I say this every year, so why not once more:

    No Los Lobos
    No Zevon
    No Harry Nilsson
    At least Rundgren got nominated.
